Travis quickly turned toward the door when he heard Taylor sneaking in holding Harper who was passed out asleep. She looked like she had been crying and if anything she looked exhausted. He felt awful having to tell her the news. Ellie was also asleep but she wouldn't be for long, the doctors had left to prepare an IV for her. This was because the teen still hadn't kept down any food since she had come home the previous night.
Taylor smiled and sat beside Travis. "How is she doing? Do they know what's wrong?" She whispered, handing the toddler over to Travis to give herself a small break.
"They think she has been spiked. Don't panic though they have got an IV on the way to give her some more nutrients then they said she should be okay but they want to monitor her." He told Taylor who nodded a little, now feeling angry for how someone treated her daughter. She couldn't believe that someone would do that to such a young and vulnerable girl who isn't even old enough to drink.
She carefully got up and made her way over to Ellie and kissed her on the forehead. "I'm so sorry that I failed you." She whispered, tears forming in her eyes until she couldn't hold them back anymore. The blonde woman immediately broke down in sobs, taking Ellie's hand in her own.
Travis carefully put harper down on the sofa and pulled Taylor into a tight hug. He helped to calm her down and took her out of the room momentarily. "Do not ever say that Taylor, you haven't failed her. There is nothing that we could have done to prevent this, okay so don't blame yourself." Travis told her.
Taylor was drained, nothing anyone said would make her feel better about it until she finally caught up on sleep. She felt empty inside and so numb from everything by the time she got into the room again and even when Ellie started screaming and crying about having an IV put in she couldn't even react.
The teen started to fight against Travis who was trying to hold her still and he couldn't do it alone. He needed Taylor's help but he knew she didn't have the strength. "Taylor, if you can please could you give me some help here. Just calm her down a little bit." He asked.
At first he got no response but soon enough she turned to look his way. "Hm? Did you say something?" She asked and he nodded, indicating to the teen who was thrashing and fighting against him.
Taylor nodded and made her way over, taking Ellie's hand in her own and gently placing a hand at the top of her head. She started to whisper anything that she knew would comfort her. "You're okay, I'm right here. I will hold your hand. I promise it won't hurt that much. It will be over so fast."
Ellie looked up at Taylor, fear in her eyes. Taylor gave her a reassuring smile and nod which gave the teen enough confidence to stay still. She couldn't look, instead she looked directly at Taylor who continued to talk to her until the IV was in. Ellie she's a few tears but Taylor was quick to wipe them away for her.
Once Ellie had fallen asleep again Taylor's mom Andrea wandered in and Taylor found her way right into her arms. Something about having her mom just made everything feel so much better. "Mom, I want my bed." She whispered and Andrea nodded.
"I'll take you home." She replied but Taylor immediately shook her head.
"No, what about Ellie! I need to be here with her. Just take Harper instead, she needs to go home more than me." Taylor instructed, butAndrea was adamant that Taylor was going home. She had been in contact with Travis who told her all about Taylor's unusually teary self. Travis had agreed to stay in hospital with Ellie while she took Taylor and Harper home to sleep.
"No taylor, you're coming home and Harper is too. You're exhausted. You will see Ellie tomorrow. As soon as you're awake I will bring you back I promise." Andrea told her daughter who just sighed and agreed. Andrea hated seeing her daughter in such an emotional and exhausted state. She had see Taylor tired after shows and quiet but with how emotional she was it was unusual.
The poor woman had dark circles around her eyes and she was so pale too. She had been so focused on Ellie that she forgot to take care of herself in the process meaning all 3 meals had been skipped that day and she had also not slept. On top of that she had been having many sleepless nights due to trying to get Harper to learn that she has to sleep in her own bed.
Everything had totalled up and equaled in exhaustion. To Andrea it felt like Taylor was just seeing right through everyone and just wasn't with them at all. It was as if she just zoned out from everything and was in her own world. To see her in that state was terrifying.
When she got the phone call she immediately jumped in the car. It is completely unlike Taylor to shut down and just ignore Harper during such a vulnerable moment, never mind cry infront of her daughter. Her heart broke hearing her daughters sobs through the phone so she rushed the whole way there.
Andrea managed to get Taylor and Harper home and when they got out of the car Taylor went to pick up Harper but Andrea guided her to the side and took the toddler in her own hands. Taylor drowned and reached out for her baby but Andrea shook her head. "No, go get in your bed. I can put Harper to bed, it's okay." Andrea whispered.
"Can she sleep with me?" Taylor questioned. As much as she complained about Harper not sleeping alone she desperately wanted her by her side. She knew that it would also result in a much better night of sleep too. Andrea questioned if she was sure about that decision and Taylor nodded, making her way inside the house.
Taylor felt awful for leaving Ellie there with Travis but she also understood that she had to prioritize her own health too. Her mom was right she needed sleep and she would have gotten so sick if she didn't catch up. It isn't fair for her kids to see her in that state either.
She made her way upstairs and as she got to her room she took Harper from Andrea and lay down in bed, finally closing her eyes and almost immediately falling asleep. Andrea smiled at her daughter and turned out the lights before heading to the guest room to get herself to sleep too. They just hoped that Ellie would be given the all clear the next day.
