I speed walk away until I'm finally far enough away to be able to run without them hearing it and alerting them. As I enter the gala room, I scan it to find Anakin and Padme. But I don't see any of them. I push through the crowd, feeling like anyone could attack any second. "Padme," I say relieved as I spot her.

"Lora? What's wrong?" She asks with worry as she sees me.

"Where's Anakin? This is a trap, we need to get out of here," I mutter to her, not wanting anyone else to hear.

She looks confused. "What?"

I take a hold of her wrist. "Padme, please believe me."

"I do," she tells me. I let out a breath of relief. "I think he's around here somewhere." That doesn't really help me. She looks over my shoulder and snaps her fingers at someone. Poor person.

"Yes, Senator Amidala?" You've got to be kidding me. Jaxler walks beside me, not sparing me a glance, and places a polite kiss on Padme's cheek.

"Jaxler, what did I tell you?" Padme scolds him with a smile.

"I'm sorry, Padme. What can I do for you?" How do they know each other exactly?

She looks at me before turning back to him. "Do you know where Anakin Skywalker is?"

"I unfortunately do not," Jax replies. "But I can look around if needed."

I shake my head. "There's no time." I step in between the two, hiding myself from people around us and press my comlink. "Anakin, where are you?"

"Why?"

I roll my eyes. "We need to go, it's an ambush."

"I'll meet you at the entrance," he says before ending the conversation.

"We need to leave, now!" I tell Padme.

A hand grips my wrist. I look at the hand before following the hand with my gaze all the way to its owner's face. "What's going on?"

I rip my hand to myself, earning a questioning look from Padme, but I ignore it and brush it off. "Nothing."

"Lora, he could be in danger as well, he's coming with us," Padme tells me with a stern voice. I clench my jaw in anger for a second before giving up and begin to walk towards the entrance to meet with Anakin and finally get out of here.

"So what? We're back to acting like we hate each other?" Jax says as he walks by my side.

I don't bother looking at him. "You're doing a pretty good job at it."

"Who says I'm acting?" He shoots back immediately. I ignore his cockyness as I spot Anakin looking grim waiting for us.

"What happened?" He asks as soon as I'm close enough.

"Dooku happened," I explain shortly as I pull his arm to follow me. "They're planning something and something tells me they know we're here." We walk as fast through the halls as we can without it seeming suspicious.

"Lora, I'm sure nothing is happening," Anakin tries to convince me. "How would they know we're here?"

I stop and look at him. "Please just believe me, something is wrong." I can see the conflict swirling in his eyes, he has his own feeling about nothing being wrong, but he can hear the desperateness in my voice.

"Fine, we'll go, but the Council won't be happy if we come back empty handed," he tells me with a stern voice.

"Would you rather risk innocent lives?" I ask. It's not a fair question, I know that.
