Chapter 3

Jack (look at Anna after moving her hand): Do you want to reveal it?

Anna: I don't like revealing my eyes to strangers. Especially out of battle.

Keith (after standing): Let's do this. (walking to Anna) If I decide to join your side and be on your team. (standing in front of Anna) Then will you show me what you are hiding?

Anna: You think joining will make me show you what's top secret?

Jack: Well you don't have an official partner and you do fight on the front line.

Anna: Jack why would you tell him that?

Keith (confused): Why didn't you call Jack captain?

Jack: We go way back so in private matters she' calls me by my name.

Keith: Can I ask you something lieutenant?

Anna: What?

Keith: How can I gain your trust?

Anna (turns her head to the side a bit): Promise not to betray me.

Keith (confused): Why would you say that?

Jake (after sighing): Some of the shadow monsters disguise themselves as a soldier. Most of them were from Anna's squad. People who were close to her. Anna of course fought them but we soon found out that they were already dead.

Keith: Those shadow creatures must have been after her demon sense and now that I'm awake they might come after me.

Jack: We don't know their motive. However what I told you happened a while ago.

Keith: I see. (after sighing) Lieutenant, I understand it will take us a while to gain each other trust but I promise to share whatever burden you have as your partner.

Anna: You have a strong spirit, Keith. (while reaching for her ribbon note) You remind me of someone.

Keith: Before removing the blindfold. (Anna has the note loosen a bit) Can you tell me your name this time?

Anna: But you already know it.

Keith: I want to hear it from you.

Anna (at the same time the blindfold comes off): My Name is Anna. (after opening her red eyes having cat pupils) So this is what you look like.

Keith (shock): How do you have the eyes of a demon?

Anna: A couple of months ago I lost my eyes in battle but the professor gave me these eyes so I could stay in the military.

Keith: Then why do you wear a blindfold?

Anna: These eyes have an ability that I only show in battle so the blindfold hides my red eyes. (putting the blindfold back on) Thanks to my training I can use magic sense to see things in very detail while having the blindfold on.

Keith: I see.

Jack: Since you're her partner Keith you'll be able to stop her if Anna loses control or has a serious problem that we humans can't fix.

Keith (looks at Jack): Are you saying these eyes are meant to have some side effect?

Jack: Yes but Anna hasn't had any so far.

Keith: I'll remember that.

Jack (after looking at the clock): Since there's still time before dinner. Why not show your new partner around?

Anna: Very well. Just don't forget his uniform. (while walking off after turning) Follow me, Keith.

Jake (leaning on his chair after Anna and Keith left): It's going to be hard for everyone to accept Keith but I hope he creates a friendship bond with Anna's squad.

(hallway)

Anna (while walking): Aren't you going to ask more questions?

Keith (next to Anna): Questions about what?

Anna (look at Keith after she stops): Why does a human have demon eyes?

Keith (look at Anna): Well you said you only have them to see. I don't think you're the type of person who would give up their actual eyes to get some use out of demon eyes.

Anna: You're so weird.

Keith (after they started walking): By the way how old are you?

Anna: It's rude to ask for people's ages but I'm twenty.

Keith: Dam. I'm older than you.

Anna (look at Keith): Are you in your thirties?

Keith: I'm twenty-one.

Anna (shock): No way. You look way older from your appearance.

Keith: Well demons grow slowly but we look beautiful to humans. However, I thought you were eighteen because you look younger.

Anna: I'll lose this baby face soon. It's rare that I still have this cure face some people like.

Keith (notice after walking past more soldiers): I just notice there are more men than females.

Anna: It's very rare for girls to join the military but some bases don't show girls respect.

Keith: What about here?

Anna: Most of the soldiers do but some don't.

(outside two room doors)

Anna (after stopping): Here we are. This door near me will be your room and the door next to it is my room.

Keith: Is it normal to have partners being like neighbours?

Anna: Yes. However, only this base does that.

Soldier (from a distance): Luitenant Anna.

Anna (after turning a bit): Good evening soldier.

Soldier (saluting while holding folding clothes): I was ordered by the captain to bring the second lieutenant uniform.

Anna (while taking the uniform after the soldier passes it to her): Thank you. Can you tell the squad to meet up at our headquarters in thirty minutes?

Soldier (saluting): Yes mam.

Keith (while the soldier ran off): Who's he?

Anna (after turning back around): He's from our squad. The reason he calls you second lieutenant is because you're at my rank and you're my partner meaning people below you must follow your order as well.
