Chapter 31

Keith (tying his hair in a low loose ponytail): I see. Well, I do like the outfit but what's with the belt?

Anna: The belt allows us to carry a bag on out back hip.

Keith (after remembering): No wonder you told me to put that bag in my magic storage.

Anna (starts walking towards the back door): The cars we'll be using are stored at the back.

Keith (follow behind): Maybe for now on I should have you pick my outfits while shopping since you have good taste.

Anna (cheeks a bit red): Sorry but no. That's what people in a relationship do.

Keith: I was joking. But if we do shop for any other clothes don't mind giving me some subjections?

Anna (after sighing): I can do that.

(open area)

Keith (and Anna driving in separate one-seat dune buggies and wearing sand goggles): These dune buggies are so weird.

Anna: Well they're only good in the desert and are easy to get around.

Keith: And these goggles make it easier to see.

While driving Anna suddenly saw something faint but when she was about to say something the ground shook making them stop before a shadow sandworm appeared from the ground.

Anna: What's a sandworm doing here?

Keith (getting out while pulling his goggles up): Anna steps back. Leave this to me.

Anna (pulls her goggles down after getting out of the dune buggy): Sorry but allow me. I want to test my abilities from our training.

Keith (after sighing): If you struggle I'll step in.

Anna (smiling while walking): Thank you. (in her mind) Let's try not to activate the demon eye during the fight.

(a few distances ahead)

The sandworm comes down to eat Anna but is knocked away by a sword whip that Anna summons at the last second. Once the blade reattached the sandworm released a scream before four more appeared surrounding her.

Anna (in her mind): Looks like you brought some friends.

Anna released her aura a bit making the sandworm back away before stepping on the ground making the sand rise by channelling a bit of wind magic to her foot. Once the sand landed Anna was in the air falling towards one of the sandworms to unleash a vertical slash having her sword cover in fire. After landing the four remaining sandworms charged their heads down but when she turned around Anna was holding a gun with her free hand firing a fire bullet that hit one of the worm's mouths making its body burn before jumping away to dodge the other three.

(a few distances away)

Keith (in his mind while watching Anna dodge the sandworm attacks): She's doing quite well. A gun and a sword whip. I thought she would be using her usual dual-wielding skills. From here I can tell the worms are scared of Anna from her aura.

(distance ahead)

Anna just landed after she dodged a second worm attack by doing a cartwheel to gain some distance once she pushed herself away pulling her sword out of a worm. Anna then made her gun get covered in fire extending the barrel before releasing an orb bullet but when the bullet landed behind the worm it exploded covering the area around the worms.

Anna (after the dust blows by): I never knew that attack would be that powerful.

Keith (when Anna looks at him while her weapons disappear): You just need to hold back your power a bit more but besides that, you've done very well.

Anna (walking to her dune buddy): I still feel rusty.

Keith (going to his dune buddy): You were up against five shadow sandworms.

Anna (picking up her goggles): True. (see something after looking up having her eyes red) What was that?

Keith (look at Anna): Did you see something?

Anna: I think but I'm not too sure.

Keith (notice): Why did you activate your demon eyes?

Anna (look at Keith): I didn't.

Sabrina (in Keith and Anna's mind): It activated on its own. My eyes are showing Anna something so why not follow it?

Anna: Are you sure it's a good idea to follow something that looks like a phantom?

Keith: A Phantom?!

Sabrina: Just trust me.

Anna (putting her goggles on after sighing): Make sure to follow me.

Keith (while Anna gets in her dune buggy): We're actually going?

Anna (while Keith gets in his dune buggy): I want to see where it takes us.

Keith (at the same time putting his goggles on): Alright.

They started the engines following the direction of the faded phantom but over time the phantom became more clear to Anna before stopping near the bottom of a cliff.

(bottom of a cliff)

Keith (while seeing Anna come out of her dune buggy): Why did we stop?

Anna (look at Keith after pulling up her goggles): The phantom disappeared.

Keith (getting out his dune buddy while Anna made her goggles disappear): Where was the last place you saw the phantom?

Anna: Right in front of the cliff.

Keith (notice something after pulling down his goggles): Isn't that a building?

Anna (after looking at the destroyed building): I just remembered. This base had a hidden underground base that kept top-secret information. (look at Keith) Maybe that's what the phantom was taking us.

Keith: But do you even know where it is?

Anna: I don't but I think they used a metal door so your lightning would be able to find its location.

Keith (goggles disappear): Why would you think they'll be using a metal door?

Anna: Under all this sand they don't want their belongings to be damaged or be covered in dust.

Keith (notice): I see. Just make sure to stay near me.
