Chapter 21

(a few distance)

Anna (in her mind having dull eyes while Sosuke and Keith fought): Am I going to die?

Unknown girl voice (in Anna's mind): Don't worry. I won't let you two die.

Anna (while her eyes glow): Who are you? You never tell me your name whenever you speak to me.

Unknown girl's voice (while Anna felt something touch her cheek): Like always it's not the right time.

(distance ahead)

Sosuke just caught Keith's throat by using a shadow hand but Keith soon touched the hand's wrist to freeze it before using his lightning to destroy the frozen hand. When Keith landed he went on one knee starting to have his vision go blurry. While hearing footsteps he looks up and sees Sosuke walking towards him but a rush of phantoms comes out from behind him before swelling around Keith and Anna making Sosuke unable to reach them.

Keith (in his mind while falling to the side): Are the phantoms protecting us?

The wind around the area got stronger making Sosuke cover his eyes before closing them but when he opened his eyes he saw no one. Sosuke tried to sense their presence in the realm but had no luck.

Sosuke (while the slime sword disappear): So they left the realm. (in his mind while walking away) Did those phantoms change sides?

(three days later human realm base medical room)

Anna (in her mind after opening her eyes while in a bed wearing an oxygen mask and medical dress): I'm still alive.

Keith (leaning on the wall cover in bandages wearing trousers and holding an open book): You're awake.

Anna (in Keith's mind after trying to use her mouth): Keith do you remember what happened after I passed out?

Keith (in his mind): Anna still must be weak so she can't move her mouth. (after closing the book) After you pass out I continue to fight Sosuke but before I pass out I see the phantoms shielding us.

Anna: The phantoms protected us?

Keith: I found it strange myself. Also what I've been told from Jack the scout team found us unconscious on the floor but we weren't bleeding. They said the medics saw that the blood was stopped by magic.

Anna (using her voice after removing the oxygen mask): Jack came by?

Keith (watch Anna struggle sitting up): Don't force yourself. The injury on your back is deep so stay still before you reopen your injuries.

Anna (lying back down after she stops struggling): Fine. So how long have we been asleep?

Keith: You've been asleep for three days and I woke up yesterday. However, I have to ask what was that other form you told me to keep secret?

Anna: It's a form that was sealed by someone else. This second form makes me strong as a demon but it puts more of a toll on my body, unlike the first form. I was warned that the form would increase the progress of my change so I never used that power unless I had to.

Keith: So that was your first time?

Anna: Correct. That's why I cough out blood.

Keith: Do you know who this person you kept mentioning is?

Anna: Sadly this person never told me her name but I think she summoned those phantoms.

Keith: How are you so sure?

Anna: Because she said we won't die. Plus I hear this voice more than once so I trust her fully.

Keith: Alright. I trust what you say. (in his mind after looking at Anna) She must have used up the strength to have this conversation before falling asleep. (while opening his book) Hopefully, we're healed enough before the next fight.

(one month later morning Anna's room)

Lilly (while opening the door): Anna it's time to wake up.

Anna (in bed wearing her pyjamas having no bandage on her forehead): Do you have to come here every day?

Lilly: Yes. (pull Anna's blanket off) You still recovering. Remember you're off duty until your back is healed.

Anna (sitting up before opening her eyes): But it's going to turn into a scar.

Lilly: Didn't you sleep?

Anna: I did.

Lilly (folding her blanket): You still look tired.

Anna (after getting out of bed): Let me wash my face and take a bath before you treat me.

Lilly (smiling while Anna walks into her bathroom): I'll get your uniform ready.

(Bathroom)

Anna (look at the mirror while the water from the bath runs): My body does feel heavy. (in her mind while taking her clothes off) We've been off duty because of our injuries and having our uniform remade. (see something from the mirror after entering the bath) Also, I've been seeing that strange person more.

(Keith bedroom)

Keith (hair out wearing his soldier outfit trousers): No scar here either. (putting the last bandage in the pin) All my injuries didn't turn into a scar.

Anna (in Keith's mind while putting his gloves on): Keith you awake?

Keith (in Anna's mind while stretching): I am. I'm almost done getting ready.

Anna: Sorry I forgot to say good morning.

Keith (putting his shirt on while holding his hairband in his mouth): It's alright but morning to you too. (looking at the mirror) So what do you want to talk about?

Anna: Can you tell me what you sense about my aura? Something doesn't feel right.

Keith (after tying his hair): Your aura feels unbalanced to me. (putting his gloves on) Try not to get so worked up during today's meeting.

(Anna's room)

Anna (while sitting in front of a desk mirror seeing Lilly brush her hair wearing her soldier outfit without her coat): I'll try not to.

Keith: If you're feeling unwell please tell me so you can rest.

Anna: Okay I will. Meet you outside.
