Chapter 4

Keith (notice after taking his clothes from Anna): What's this book?

Anna: Information about our world. By the way not to rush you but you have to learn fast how to use technology and vehicles.

Keith: I'll try my best.

Anna: Anyway go ahead and get change. I'll be waiting here.

(Keith bedroom)

Keith (having his clothes laid out on the bed): Their outfits are very different from what I'm used to wearing. (after picking up a black button-up shirt) I don't think I can wear a top like this.

Jack's voice (while Keith read a note after picking up a piece of folded paper): I gave you two different shirts to pick just in case you can't accept human clothing.

Keith (in his mind after picking up a different shirt): The second shirt looks better than the button shirt.

(hallway outside doors)

Anna (after hearing the door open): Are you done?

Keith (after closing the door): Yeah.

When Anna lifted one side of her blindfold to see Keith's outfit. He's wearing a black turtle neck shirt with no sleeves, a black ankle-length coat that has role up middle-length sleeves with a jungle green outline on the pocket, jungle green inside, jungle green belt that attacks to the hip, and jungle green clip buttons in the middle that close the top half that reach bellow his collar. Black trousers, black gloves that don't cover fingers, and black boots that have short heels with jungle green underneath and jungle green lace in the middle that's tied in a bow at the top.

Anna (while pulling her blindfold down): Look good. (leaning away from the wall) Does your uniform feel uncomfortable?

Keith (tied his hair in a ponytail): It fits fine.

Anna: Good. (start walking) It's time to meet your team partner.

(hallway)

Anna (while walking with Keith): Jack forgot to tell you but you can't tell anyone else about my eyes. Everyone in the base knows that my eyes are covered because they reveal special power.

Keith (while looking through a book): So who knows besides Jack?

Anna: The laboratory since they are the people who gave me surgery to have these eyes.

Keith: You had surgery?

Anna (touches one of her eyes): I had to take a bit of the owner eyes blood before doing the surgery. Luckily it only took a few weeks to heal.

(outside building)

Keith (while closing the book): Sorry for changing the subject but you forgot to answer the question I asked in the canteen.

Anna: Sorry it slipped my mind. The thing is the base in the snowland found you in a frozen ocean and that was three months ago. Since they didn't have the technology to break the giant ice you were in. It took a month to have you transfer to this base.

Keith: I see. (notice while looking at many soldiers): Stupid question but why is our uniform different from the soldiers?

Anna: That's because of our rank. As the rank of soldier, everyone wears the same uniform. The rank lieutenant will be a bit different from the rank below us. Luitenants can command a squad that they're appointed to. The rank captain has to wear a uniform like a boss because they're in control of a base and we the lieutenant follow their orders.

Keith: Is there another rank?

Anna: There's one more rank and they call the general.

Keith: General?

Anna: They're in charge of the country base giving captains information or a mission. They have more power so try not to make them your enemies.

Keith (look at Anna): Got yea.

Anna (points at a building): That's our headquarters. Each lieutenant has their own base for their squad. Since we're on the front lines we're called squad one.

Keith: Do you always lose comrades?

Anna (tone changes a bit): Sometimes but I try to make sure my family gets back alive.

Keith (in his mind): Family? Does she have relatives or have a close bond?

(squad one base meeting room)

Lilly (after seeing Anna enter first before Keith): Salute!

Anna (stopping in front of the soldiers after they salute): Thank you soldier Lily and good evening everyone.

Every soldier (after they stop saluting): Good evening mam.

Anna: Sorry for calling everyone for a meeting with short notice but I have something to share with you. As you might notice this person next to me is a demon. He's from the giant ice that was destroyed yesterday. With my permission and with the captain's agreement he'll be joining the squad as my partner. (whisper) Introduce yourself.

Keith (after sighing while standing near Anna): Hello everyone My name is Keith. I can tell you might think I'm just being nice to let your guard down but I promise the captain and your squad leader that I will behave and follow how you people live your daily life. (bowing) I'll be in your care.

Anna (in her mind while the soldier talks in the background): Now it's up to them to accept you, Keith.

Soldier (acting second lieutenant (walking forwards)): What's the meaning of this leader? I wasn't informed.

Anna (looking at the soldier): The decision was made today. However, I don't see a reason to inform you.

Soldier: But I'm the second lieutenant of this squad.

Anna: You were acting second lieutenant. Meaning it was a temporary position. You did have potential but over time you became weaker and I was planning to replace you anyway.

Soldier: What! (mad) You must be kidding me. You're replacing me with a demon who is our enemy.

Anna: That was in the past generation. Now this single demon (after she stops) No. This single being has agreed to join us after talking with the captain. So soldier are you going against the captain's decision?
