Chapter 14

Lieutenant one (sitting down while Lieutenant two throw back the kunai to Lieutenant three): Forgive me.

Keith (in Anna's mind while she giggles quietly): What's funny?

Anna (in Keith's mind): It's just how he acts when Jack is or isn't around. I never get bored of it.

Keith: So there are just four lieutenants including you.

Anna: Yes sadly. I who goes to the front line is squad one as you already know. That angry man commands the second squad and they're the ones who backs us up. The third lieutenant commands the third squad who is our medic on the battlefield but his team does fight as well.

Keith (while Jack sits in his chair): So he's from the medic department and a fighter?

Anna: Correct. The last lieutenant commands squad four. You could say his squad are our scouts being our eyes and ears gathering information.

Keith: I can tell he's skilful. If he wasn't a lieutenant he should have been your partner because when he threw that kunai I could see it.

Anna: You have good eyes. We all have special skills that make us lieutenants. Even you Keith have skills unique to you. Anyway, we five have at least two to five ninjas in our squad from his unit.

Keith: Do you get along with anyone else?

Anna: Beside the second lieutenantI'm close to the other two.

Jack: Let's start the meeting.

Lieutenant three: While my squad was watching the battle that recently happened they discovered a cave that has a portal. I took a look at it myself and it leads to the shadow realm.

Keith (in his mind Lieutenant three speaks): A portal to the shadow realm?

Anna (in Keith's mind): That's the other way to enter and leave the shadow realm. The way you did it had never been done before. However, it's not easy to find these portals.

Jack: So you're saying one is nearby?

lieutenantthree: That's right.

Jack (look at Anna and Keith): If your squad is up to it. I would like you two to go to the shadow realm.

Lieutenant one: You're not serious captain. Why would you pick her squad but not mine?

Jack: Unlike your unit, Anna's squad has a better teamwork bond and thanks to that they lost fewer soldiers. They're used to the risk and her soldiers survived in the shadow realm.

Lieutenant one: But that's thanks to the last lieutenant and thanks to that brat the most skillful lieutenant died. (while Keith sees Anna grip her fist) So I can't trust a killer.

Keith (behind Lieutenant one holding a sword near his neck): It's wrong to mention someone who died. I know I've only been awake for a couple of days but Anna is already doing her best. At least she makes sure everyone survives.

Lieutenant one (shock): How did you suddenly get behind me?

Lieutenant two (looked at Keith while smiling): Did you teleport?

Keith: Something like that. I just use my lightning magic to move fast so no one can hear a sound or sense my presence.

Lieutenant three (in his mind): So he has a few ninja skills. Interesting. (look at Anna at the corner of his eyes) You're a lucky girl Anna.

Jack (look at Keith): Can you put your sword away?

Keith (while his sword disappears): Sorry.

Anna: Fine. If you think I'm not worthy then I'll just go myself.

Lieutenant two (shock): You're not serious.

Anna (standing while everyone senses her bloodlust of a demon): Since the first lieutenant thinks I'm a murderer then he might be right. (taking her blindfold off) I still blame myself thinking I should have been tho one who died instead of him. (smiling after opening her eyes having them a bit dull) I have no right to have these eyes either. (eyes glow) Maybe. I should have just become everyone's enemy.

Keith (in his mind shock): I've never seen Anna like this.

Lieutenant one: So she finally lost it.

Lieutenant two: It's your fault. She still carries the burden from two years ago.

Keith: What burden?

Lieutenant two: The lieutenant before Anna died right in front of her and sacrificed himself to get his team out of a dangerous mission. Then a year later Anna lost her eyes almost dying on her own mission but she was still alive when my unit arrived.

Anna (after taking a deep breath): If this is the end of the meeting I'm leaving.

Lieutenant three (stands in front of Anna when she turns around): You're going nowhere.

Anna (tone lowers after catching one of her swords that comes out of the sheath): Move.

Lieutenant three: Anna I only saw you like this before during the battle when you first transformed.

Anna: What about that day?

Lieutenant three: Is this you or the demon talking?

Anna: It's my inner thoughts but it's still me.

Lieutenant three: I see.

Anna suddenly turns around seeing Keith behind her before he injects something into her neck making Anna drop her sword at the same time turning her back to normal.

Anna (in her mind while closing her eyes): I'm sorry. Shoto.

Keith (after catching Anna): Who's Shoto?

Lieutenant three: Shoto is the lieutenant who died and is the former leader of unit one.

Keith: I see. (in his mind) Someone who Anna was close to.

Lieutenant one: Captain pick me not that monster.

Keith (after ice spikes hit around the lieutenant chair): Watch what you say. (while picking Anna up) Or I may kill you next time.

Jack: I'm still going to pick Anna's team. (look at Keith) Please take Anna to her room and tell her my decision.

Keith (while walking off): I will.

Lieutenant two (after Keith left): Nice thinking.

Lieutenant three: I had a feeling she would break so I brought her medicine just in case.

Jack: The meeting is over. Return to your duties and once Anna awake get things ready for her.

Lieutenant two and three: Yes sir.
