our lips met in a gentle expression of the flames of love that still danced unextinguished in our hearts.
i leaned into his touch, deepening the kiss filled with suppressed emotions and regret. his lips felt soft and delicate, as if the moonlight that was shining on us had decided to give me a taste of itself.
my fingertips brushed against his nape, painting my apologies through sensations. he gave me a piece of himself under the stars. a relic of our love to adorn my memories with.
the euphoria vanished as he broke the kiss.
"i will wait for you. it's a promise and the stars are the witness" he said softly, with a melancholic voice.
"does that mean a shooting star will fall on you if you break it?" i asked before i could stop myself. jeonghan chuckled and i felt glad i could replace the sad look on his face, even if it was for just a minute.
"a star won't fall on another star don't worry" he said with a smug grin.
i guess sentimental conversations aren't our cup of tea.
"if i am never ready for it?"
half of his face was illuminated by a faint silver glow while the other half was eclipsed in a shadow. the boundary of his sharp features softened and if i hadn't seen his childhood pictures, i would've believed he was an otherworldly entity.
soothing, alluring and so helplessly lovable.
"then i will wait till eternity." he replied without a fragment of hesitation.
i caressed his face, gazing into his eyes as if they were the window to heaven. i could get lost there for hours but for once i didn't want to be selfish.
if it's for him, then i could sacrifice my own happiness without a second thought.
"no jeonghan, you can't do that." i told him smiling despite the sadness i felt. "find someone better to love"
jeonghan looked surprised as if he had never expected such words to come out of my mouth. i hadn't either. once he had accepted that i meant each word, he smiled warmly as if i had said the most cheerful thing.
"how can i find someone better if i am leaving behind the best?"
"your standards are below the ground." i said, attempting to conceal my guilt with humor.
he didn't laugh. he shook his head to tell me i was wrong, a hint of a smile on his face.
"remember what i told you?" he asked and i was lost in confusion.
"if there's a soulmate, if there's an eternal love, then for me it's all you."
he clasped my hands in his. thumb brushing softly against my knuckle, a small smile playing on his tender lips.
"i love you song arin and it's not a question of your presence.
even in your absence i have loved you.
even if you weren't mine to keep, i would still love you.and if i had to wait for you my whole life then i would spend every night with thoughts of you in my mind.
i love you eternally"
