Bonus - The Sunset

"wow who would've thought you would still suck after all these years"

"jeonghan!" i snapped and it almost caused me to slip again but he grabbed my hand before i could.

ice skating is still not my thing.

but it feels good to visit this place again. it's like we are rewriting our story. making sure that there are no mistakes this time, only happy little accidents like me falling on my butt for the hundredth time.

the hills were covered in snow and it felt like i was in heaven itself. and with the way the evening sun shined on jeonghan like molten gold, wasn't really helping my case. he looked ethereal. 

i held on to his hand while clumsily following him to a bench, flopping on it without a single care. i heard a click and sure enough, he was expanding his collection of 'arin's candid pics' which could be easily renamed as 'arin's most embarrassing moments'.

"don't click pictures when i am frowning" i complained but he just laughed in response.

"then don't frown." he touched my lips, lifting the corners gently with his fingertips. i resisted for a few seconds but i couldn't help but smile.

"good. now -" he raised his phone again, clicking a picture as i smiled shyly. 

we sat there in a comfortable silence. our hands intertwined, waiting patiently for the sunset. deep down, i was afraid we will miss it again. this place had the saying that couples who watch a sunset here always stay together. i didn't always believe in superstitions but perhaps i was seeking assurance, however fragile, that we will never drift away again.

i wondered what would happen if someone needed help once again, but the thought made me laugh internally. if another old woman needs help, we could help her together. and won't her blessing mean more than a romanticized sunset?

i didn't get the chance to play the ideal lady though, because no one needed help and no one disturbed us.

the sun started to dip, and the sky was painted crimson and shades of violet. the light reflected off the snow and it felt as if the world was full of colors. the golden snow around us, the pink sky above us and a faint outline of the orange sun, slowly disappearing below the horizon.

i glanced over at jeonghan.

the fading sunlight painted his profile in gold, every line and curve of his face softened by the warm light of the sunset. i couldn't help but stare, memorizing every detail like it was the first time. the sharp curve of his jawline, his lips soft and inviting, his hair swaying faintly with the breeze. it's raven shadows falling on his forehead. disheveled and fluffy but so wonderful at the same time.

i shifted slightly, our shoulders brushing, and he glanced at me for just a moment. His lips curved into that small, familiar smile, sweet and full of love.

i felt grateful, despite all our ugly times, we were still here. sitting together as the sun set, like we had all the time in the world. i wanted to freeze this moment, to lock it away somewhere safe, where nothing could ever touch it.

but more than that, my thoughts were filled with a new dream. to have many more moments like these. a thousand sunsets, a million quiet touches. a lifetime of being by his side and knowing that when our eyes meet, there would always be love in them.
