100: Unlikely Visits - S

Chase decides to visit an old friend. Also, there are only five more chapters left of this book and then it will be completed.

Chase was very nervous to walk through the doors, returning to a place he never thought he would. He remembers the couple of memories he has regarding the place before him, the ones that have made his life the way it is now, it was hard for him to think he may want it any other way.

He walked himself inside, going up to ask for who he wanted to speak to. He then found his wait to be forever, waiting to speak to who he wanted to speak to. It didn't take long for him to be led to the room to see who he wanted to see, then the other entering the room and the two staring at each other in silence.

"Took me a little bit to find you." Chase starts off, breaking a silence he forgot was present. "I have so many questions and yet for you doing so much for me, I never actually knew your name."

"It took you this long to ask?! wait, I never actually told you, did I?" There was a moment of silence as Chase nodded his response, the other continuing. "I am not good at this, I am so sorry. My name is Salmeno."

Salmeno, the one who saved him the first night in jail before he was ever so tragically murdered, the one who gave him a duck he rejected, the one who resented the duck, and the one who saved his life that day when Saech came along to try and end it all. Chase found it nice to actually have a name to this common face, but even so, he was never able to truly thank him.

"Yes, well, I actually wanted to thank you." Chase says. "Even now I still want to understand why you've chosen to save me all this time and yet I still find myself so grateful for what you decided to do."

"I had an important reason to do what I did, and I do want to tell you." the mech says, Chase seemingly surprised that the whole thing was going to be told to him. "I had a son of my own, one who I lost to disease."

"Oh, I am sorry to hear-"

"I'm not done." Chase stops, listening as the mech continues. "I didn't want him to die, I even went about stealing the part that would've saved his life. I remember seeing all those hurting sparklings and then I realized it wasn't right, and I thought that prison would be my torture to try and heal, that was until I met you."

there was a moment of silence, a brief pause to compose himself.

"I honestly did not understand why exactly it was you that had to come near me but it took me time to realize that you were the chance for me to heal, which has made me realize you are somewhat like a son to me now." He states. "I do not expect you to feel the same way but I knew I couldn't let anything happen to you."

Chase is quiet, processing exactly what he had just heard and finally being able to respond.

"would it be possible to visit the next lunar cycle to catch up?" Those words Chase said seemed to almost explain exactly what he thought and Salmeno couldn't help but smile.

"Of course."
