Just before Sigma 17 went along to go on patrol, run into the energon eater that would cause them to drift off into space and then bring them to Griffin Rock, everything was sweet. They all did many rescues together, got to spend time with their families and do what they wanted.
There was no war on the horizon when they were about to leave, nothing was being expected at all. they knew of the troubling rescues that went on and somewhat killed many of the other rescue forces. They all understood the job, making sure to do their work and to be careful.
They all didn't know what would happen the moment they went back into space, the loss of their families, the destruction of their home, everything they would hold close would disappear and they wouldn't know until it was far too late.
Before all of that, they were all happy in their own ways. Blades couldn't be more happy that his life was turning out well, he could see the bright future he soon would have. Chase surely knew his life was slowly starting to get better, having some bonding time with Salmeno as much as he could. Heatwave had really no definition of happiness and was more focused on how his work may grow but thought maybe it could change (or not). Boulder, he just always found himself happy, he could see such a bright future.
Even thought it was going to get dark, they were happy, for now.
