Abandoned, left to die, that is what a newly created spark finds in common with another.
____________________________________________________________________________________________She was slowly packing up her stuff, planning to leave for the night as her shift was pretty much over. her work was constantly both tedious and also boring, making the minute the shift was over to be the most exciting part of any day she had to be there.
"Starlight, do you have a moment?" it was one of her co-workers, calling her over something.
"Please don't ask me about your brother, he is a nice mech but I'm not looking for a companion." she says, almost guessing exactly what was to be said to her as if it was rehearsed in some way.
"it is him who is making me bother you about it, but that isn't what I wanted to talk about." the co-worker says, her small frame seemingly tired from the day she had. "The boss wants you to stay late to watch one of the patients."
"I'm not a medic." she had to decline, it was a job for a medic, which is not what she so happens to be.
"everyone else who could do it has already left and I can't tonight." Starlight is handed a file. "All you have to do is watch the patient and if something happens, and I quote Rocheal on this: 'they die, then they die'."
"you are asking me to watch a patient die?'' That was very wrong, but yet again, she had no idea who it was. "I'll do it but I don't want that patient to die."
"I wasn't asking for an opinion." her co-worker left in a hurry, leaving Starlight to navigate herself that night.
she opened the file, reading the contents inside. Each thing felt like horror, no name, a terrible picture, all the details only being in the creators as if they were criminals. There were many notes on other pages regarding the condition of the bot and more so what to be done with them even after they live because they were unwanted.
She walked to the room they were in, wondering if it was a young mech or femme since the file didn't seem to give any of it away. When she found the room and entered, she was truly full of sadness as the scene before her seemed to simply show death.
There were many machines, many wires and tubes that connected to many more that made it onto the small little frame in the crib. The machines were loud and obnoxious, which made the little one constantly shift and silently warble as if it wished for it all to go away. The main thing she noticed was that it was only that in the room, no other little sparklings, and certainly no doctors there either.
"you poor thing." she slowly let herself walk closer to the frame, seeing the little red mech that seemed to be almost silently struggling for his life. "I know how it feels to be alone like this.
she managed to get a chair, pulling it close to the crib. with such gentle care and kindness, she lifted the little one out and into her arms while everything remained connected. he barely moved in her arms, his frame looking deathly pale rather than vibrant and full of life. he continued to warble in her embrace, showing his signs of deep struggle that bother him in his possibly last moments.
"I know, this isn't the best thing to ever have in your life." she slowly rocks him, which surprisingly seems to help him as he slowly seems to awaken.
she noticed how warm the little one's frame was compared to her own, being like this little blanket of a being that was bundled in her arms. he seemed to like the gentle care she was giving him, being the only one in the building who has cared for him since he came into the world, almost like a carrier, a gentle mother.
"You need a name." she looked at the little joy in her arms, one that she knew would now survive thanks to her own acts. "You are a bundle of happiness, Heatwave."
he then opened his optics, she can't help but then realize how much of a struggle the one she holds will have. Even if his creators chose to take him back, she could tell that there would be much suffering that would follow him. she didn't want that to happen, a joy like him shouldn't have to be brought to the violence that could possibly be his future.
"oh Heatwave, you are my joy now." Starlight knew what she had to do, it was the only way to guarantee the life in her arms. "I will do anything to protect you and give you the life you deserve."
Heatwave warbled at her words, almost as if in question. she nodded her head as she brought the bot closer to her own frame.
"I would do anything."
