Chase was willing to do anything, and yet, he somehow made a friend.

Chase is regretting his words a bit.

He said he would do anything to assure himself staying at the academy, he wanted to prove that he wasn't some sort of criminal and that he truly wanted to be one of the good law enforcers that help the town. Yet, when he was given this task, saying he would do anything seemed to be much harder than he had anticipated.

"Chase, this is my brother Heatwave." Blades, that is who it was, the one who was introducing him. "Well, he's my adoptive brother, that's a long story I'll have to explain at some point."

They were in a common room, Blades and Chase both standing while Heatwave was sitting. The red bot had a datapad in his servos, but seemed to not notice the presence of the two. Chase waved slightly, making his presence actually known.

"Hello there." he says, Heatwave simply looking at him, seemingly confused to what Chase is doing.

"Yeah, he doesn't really do too much." Blades says, giving some more intel regarding what Heatwave has been like for a good long while. "I mean, you can try to get him to talk but carrier and I haven't bothered to try, it almost is like he enjoys being silent."

"Why don't you tell me more about him." Chase suggests, maybe trying to find some sort of loophole or even get an idea to pop into his processor.

Chase listened to what Blades had to say, even getting a bit from Ratchet regarding Heatwave's likes and dislikes. He heard many interesting facts and stories that Blades could recall from his memory, Chase silently listened along, taking notes of his own to analyze later on.

This entire thing was only to get Heatwave to talk, make a bot talk when they haven't done so for a very long time. He had a voice box, so it was basically required for him to talk or he would be kicked out. Ratchet did warn him it wouldn't be as easy as throwing a wrench but he would definitely let Chase try to make Heatwave talk if he wanted.

After gathering everything, Chase began to try and get to know Heatwave and simply get him to talk. He made sure to try and use what he had but also tried other ideas to get him to talk, which all were quick to fail. it happened for two whole lunar cycles and yet he felt like he was still at square one.

They were both sitting outside at the front steps of the building, looking out at the dark sky that constantly habited Cybertron. Chase held a datapad in his hand, one which he had read to Heatwave, but unfortunately, his efforts had done absolutely nothing.

"I don't get it, why aren't you speaking?" Chase was basically defeated by now, nothing he had done had been working. "You have all the liberties to do so and yet you don't, why?!"

Heatwave looked at him in silence, seemingly almost contemplating on what he was asked of from Chase. Chase just couldn't understand exactly what it could be that kept Heatwave silent at the moment.

"my life sucked, I saw things I never should've, was taught things that shouldn't have been taught to me and was constantly denied for something completely out of my own servos." Chase says. "yet I still kept on trying, I wasn't about to keep myself quiet and let myself be thrown around all the time"

Chase could feel the urge to cry, remembering all the times he was hurt mentally all because he was seen as some threat. He knows his life was something truly terrible, but now looking at it, could it have been much worse?

"I continued to speak because even though they may not listen, they will one day." Chase tells him. "Was your life so much worse than mine to the point you have nothing left or you can't just go forward differently?!"

Chase doesn't know what to do with Heatwave now, nothing has worked and yet it seemed like nothing would. He slowly got up to leave, not really knowing if he would truly return to help him or not.

"My life is many holes of empty space, containing many things that I have lost to never gain back." Chase stopped, it wasn't the words that shocked him but rather the voice, a voice he never heard of before.

"What?" Chase turned around, shocked by the sight he was seeing. Heatwave was standing there, looking at him, looking to possibly almost be in tears.

"I lost multiple things throughout my life, something that was constant for a long time a while back." It was shocking for Chase to see Heatwave actually shocking, but he could see the emotion, some sort of burst of feelings he had suppressed for a long time. "Silence was the only way to preserve what I had, to gain what I wanted and longed since then."

Chase didn't really know what to say, in fact, he was still processing everything that was going on right at that moment.

"I too found out things I shouldn't have, which ultimately ruined most of my life. I didn't think any amount of words could even try to fix any of that." Heatwave tells him. "so, I kept myself quiet for a very long time, preserving what I had and trying to gain back what I really lost."

"Even without talking, didn't you still lose stuff?" Chase questions, a bit curious. "But what made you talk now?"

"Me choosing not to talk made me break off a part of me, I guess." Heatwave answers. "What made me talk? I don't know, maybe it was because I found someone like me."

"Please tell me you mean it in a 'friend' way."

"Woah, I was not proclaiming companionship here, what in all of Primus made you think I was doing that?!"

"A lot."
