Heatwave gets more than he bargained for.
_________________________________________________________________________________________

Heatwave was nearly late to his meeting time as one of his teachers talked forever, making the poor bot have to rush over to his meeting spot so he wouldn't be considered late at all. He did manage to get there on time, even though his time of arrival was actually a good bit earlier than what was actually going to go down.

"So why did you have me come down so early?" He asks Ratchet, walking along the halls with the medic as he finds himself flooded with some terror.

"I just need to do some things and check things over before it starts." Ratchet says, but even so, Heatwave still finds himself a bit clueless. "It is nothing much."

"I thought I was only getting a little check over?" Heatwave surely did not want to be sent into some sort of trap, he has already been emotionally tampered with enough. "Isn't that all I am here for?"

"Well yes, but if my assumptions are correct, things will need to be done afterwards." Ratchet points out, mentioning his own current thoughts on what was going to happen. "You will be out of the academy for a bit but it won't be anything dangerous."

Heatwave stopped walking, a part of him couldn't let himself go any further with what he was being told. something bothered him, the fact that there was something not right here, after all these years of being in some sort of darkness, he now really needs some answers.

Ratchet noticed that the red bot had stopped walking with him, the medic turning around as the two now stood far apart. The medic can only display confusion as he stares, wondering what it was that made the other stop following along.

"Heatwave-"

"What are you not telling me?" he had to know, he cannot take this anymore. "This isn't a normal check-up, is it?"

"This is a check-up, but I don't understand what else you seem to be asking from me." Ratchet had no idea where Heatwave was going with this, it was puzzling.

"No, you're lying. how do you know something is wrong with me when you haven't even set a servo on me?" Heatwave clearly was determined to get some sort of answer at that moment. "Why is it that you have told me I can only have one type of energon and make sure I have no other additions to it? Why is it that I am always told I am quite light for my age? Why is it that you are keeping me in the dark? I want to know!"

Ratchet had his confusion turned off, his expression almost becoming sorrowful. Heatwave was only wanting answers, and Ratchet knew all of the ones the bot was asking, but never did he imagine the time of telling them had come so quickly.

"Heatwave, you have every right to be mad right now but there is a reason I never really told you the truth." Ratchet slowly walked closer, Heatwave's medical file in hand. "It hurts me now that I do have to be completely honest with you."

Heatwave is handed the file, which he decides to read. Within the file of his own that he holds, he sees what could possibly be the longest list of things he ever saw yet as he looked closer, he couldn't help but be floored by the sight.

"This is a list of viruses." Heatwave points out, unsure where this could be going. "Why is it a part of my file?"

"Well, I was going to do a very surgical check-up to make sure you had none of these." Ratchet answers, but based on his looks, it seems there was still something being hidden.

"Listen, if I had these, I would've already had it all fixed up by now." Heatwave says.

"If you had the parts, yes."

Heatwave froze, slowly turning to actually meet Ratchet's gaze. the whole sentence still ringed in his head, his anger turning into true confusion.

"What?" Heatwave was a little speechless at the moment. "What do you mean 'if'?"

"A virus can still be a part of the frame even if the parts are missing, Heatwave." Ratchet seemed to be choosing his own words very wisely. "It takes a surgical check-up to check that though when a bot has more than two parts missing."

"What ones?" Heatwave was slowly given a face of horror and sadness. It took him a while to realize that the list of viruses technically gave him that horrible answer he wanted only moments before. "No."

All Ratchet could really do was hug the young bot.
