THE first light of dawn seeped through the curtains, gently stirring me awake. Nagbaba ako ng tingin kay Poppy na nakayakap sa 'kin, her breathing soft and steady. Without thinking, I pressed a kiss to her forehead, savoring the warmth of her skin against my lips.
Nanatili akong pinagmamasdan siya habang natutulog, nag-aalanganin akong kumislot sa pag-aalalang magising ko siya. Hindi natuloy ang nangyari sa 'min kagabi matapos niyang masaktan. Nang makita kong puno ng nerbyos ang mukha niya, I decided to stop and tell her na 'tsaka na lang namin ituloy kapag ready na ulit siya. Natulog lang kaming magkatabi at magkayakap.
Nag-beeped ang cell phone ko sa nightstand, inabot ko 'yon at tiningnan kung sinong nag-text. Si Mom. Inuutusan na kaming mag-prepare at bumaba sa lobby para magkasabay-sabay raw ulit kami sa almusal. Doon kasi ulit ang breakfast buffet.
Matapos kong reply-an si Mom, ginising ko na si Poppy. Ayokong magtagal kami sa room dahil siguradong aasarin lang ulit kami ng mga kapatid ko, kaya mas mabuting mauna kami sa kanila.
After we got ready, we headed down to the lobby, our fingers naturally finding each other's as we walked. There was a quiet comfort in holding her hand, a silent promise that I wasn't planning to let go anytime soon. Akala ko ay mas mauuna kaming bumaba rito kaysa sa pamilya ko, pero medyo malayo pa ay dinig ko na ang pagtawa ni Hope at Summer. Naroon na silang lahat.
As we neared the table where our family was gathered, the atmosphere shifted. Everyone's attention turned toward us, their faces lighting up with smiles, lalo na si Mom nang makita ang kamay namin ni Poppy na magkahawak.
I caught Hope and Summer exchanging knowing looks with Tita Baby, their expressions teasing in a way that made Poppy's cheeks turn a soft shade of pink.
"Good morning lovely couple," nakangising bati ni Mommyla sa amin, nakikisali na rin sa pang-aasar. "Ang tagal n'yong bumaba, nagpaplano na kaming ipa-room service na lang kayo."
"'Di na kailangan ng room service, Mommyla. Busog na raw sila sa isa't-isa," natatawang sabi ni Hope, dahilan kaya lalong nahiya si Poppy at bahagyang kumubli sa likuran ko.

After a long day of exhausting water activities at the beach, I felt the fatigue settling in as the sun began to dip below the horizon. The sound of laughter and splashing waves had filled the day, but now all I wanted was a moment to unwind.
Matapos ang sabay-sabay ulit naming dinner sa hotel restaurant, nagpaalam si Hope at Love na sasaglit lang sa labas para magpahangin. Ako naman ay balak na sanang yayain si Poppy sa room namin para magpahinga. Nagpaalam na rin kasi sina Mom at Dad, pati si Mommyla at Daddylo dahil pagod din sila.
Just as I was about to approach my wife—na kakuwentuhan pa rin si Summer, Tita Baby, Sunny at Meng— my phone beeped, and I saw Hope's name flash on the screen. He had texted, inviting me to join them at the hotel bar.
Since Poppy was busy chatting with my sister, aunt and cousins, I decided to head over and spend some time with them. Pero siyempre, nagpaalam ako kay Poppy, sinabi kong mga kakambal ko ang kasama ko.
When I arrived at the bar, I found Hope and Love already there, each with a beer in hand. They looked up as I approached, and Hope, with his ever-mischievous grin, motioned for me to sit beside them. I slid onto the barstool next to them, barely settled in when Hope turned to me with a playful glint in his eyes.
