Chapter 82 - Offense Or Defense?

"Is he awake?" I heard Krist muttering, as he stepped into my room in my home.

"I sure as hell hope so" Dave muttered as well, before clearing his throat. "Kurt!"

I laid still on my bed, not wanting to give off that I was awake.

But then again, these guys knew me too well.

"Okay, he's awake. C'mon" Krist urged Dave as I in turn let out a loud groan. "C'mon Kurt, you're gonna have to portray better acting than that"

"What do you guys want?" I groaned. "And how did you know I wasn't faking?" I asked, annoyed though slightly curious, as a sat up from my lying position.

"Well, to answer your second question, if you were really sleeping, you would've at least reacted to me screaming. It's basic science Kurtis" Krist said. I rolled my eyes, but chuckled a bit.

"Well, I guess so. So what do you guys want?" I asked. Krist and Dave shared a look.

"What did Eddie say about Ash?" Krist asked. I sighed, feeling my heart sink a little bit. "Kurt?"

"He said Ash is with Chris. He said he told Chris that he wasn't gonna tell me to lower Chris's guard down. He said she seems safe and happy, but he also feels something is off with them" I said, with a sigh. "We all know Chris is manipulating her. But I doubt I can just go over there and drag her out"

"It wouldn't be a good look for you either way" Dave reasoned. I said nothing but let out a huge sigh.

"This is all my fault, if only I wasn't so hard on her" Keist said, running his hand through his hair. "Cornell's a manipulator Kurt. Ashlyn's smart. Sooner or later, she'll find out what he's doing"

"And if she doesn't?" I asked. Krist was silent. "Exactly. I have to do something about her Krist. I don't wanna lose her"

"You won't Kurt. You won't" Krist assured. "When last did you write a song?" Krist asked, changing the topic.

"I dunno... when I helped Ash with RFUS" I said. Dave cast a confused glance at my direction. "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" I clarified.

"Ooh. Gotcha" He smiled. "Well you've gotta give it another shot Kurt. And we're due for an album in a few months"

"I'll try my best" I promised. "I just need to get my head in order."

"We understand. And we guess it could be worse" Krist reasoned.

"What could possibly be worse than this?" I asked.

"She could be with Izzy" Krist reasoned. Immediately I clenched my fists, wondering why Krist would utter that cursed name.

"Why do you guys still let him roam free? Like he should be in police custody at this..." I cut Dave mid sentence with a loud groan.

"Don't bring Izzy up" Krist warned. "Sensitive topic" Dave looked flabbergasted.

"But you brought him up first!" Dave pointed out.

Somehow, that statement made me chuckle loudly. The first laugh I've had in a while.

But deep down, I knew my mind would never be settled until Izzy was brought to Justice. Until I got my revenge on the scumbag that hurt my Ashlyn.

But in the meantime, I could only pray that she was alright.
