Welcome to my story everyone. I've been working on it for a while. I hope you all enjoy it.

January 1992...

Ashlyn

Shit. Shit. I'm so freaking late. Maybe Mike won't notice, right?

"You're late. That's the third time this week Ash" Michael said crossing his hands over his chest with a stern look on his face.

"I'm sorry again Mike I just... Kyle was supposed to drop me off after school and... I'm sorry" I said genuinely.

"I'm worried about you Ash. You've worked here for almost two years and honestly you're the best worker I've ever had but since you started going out with Kyle... is there something wrong or...?"

"No!" I cut in suddenly even surprising myself at the tone of my voice. Mike looked shocked as well. "I mean, no. I'm alright. We're alright. We're great"

Mike eyed me skeptically for awhile before sighing loudly.

"Fine, just don't let it repeat itself okay. I hired you for a reason. You should be here by 4pm prompt. I don't wanna take any drastic measures okay?"

"Yes boss. I'll get my shit together don't worry" I said with a smile. Thank God he wasn't holding it against me.

"And no swearing. You're only seventeen!" He reprimanded.

"I can't hear you lalalalalala" I joked around covering my ears. Mike looked to be fighting the urge to smile.

"Ok whatever just tidy up around here. I'm expecting an old friend very soon" He said.

Old friend? I didn't mean to pry but...

"Anyone special?" I asked wiggling my eyebrows teasingly.

"It's a guy"

"So? It's 1992" I said with a shrug.

"It's not a date or anything he just wants to hang out and buy some stuff. Plus you know very well that I'm straight."

"Stranger things have happened" I teased. Michael rolled his eyes.

"Just make here look presentable okay?"

"You can count on me boss" I said with a mock salute.

"And if you say anything you're not meant to you're getting a mouth full of soap!" He called out as he walked into the storage room.

"Yes dad!" I joked with a little chuckle. Mike was fun I liked him. He was like the older brother I never had.

Well I had but...

"Get to it Ash! You can start with that mess in the sheet music compartment!"

2 hours later

"...okay here you go" I said handing over a newly restrung violin to a happy customer. "Please be careful when playing, try to keep it in a safe place when and come for routine maintenance. I guarantee that the violin would last a lifetime" I said with a smile.
