Kurt
Flashback, Earlier that day...
I finished a call with David Geffen and sighed heavily. He was checking on Ashlyn and wondering if our tour would be resuming anytime soon.
Not knowing what else to say, I said yes.
I was sure to do some explaining sometime soon but I decided that I would face the music once that time came.
I was about to put my phone down when I got another call from... Duff McKagan.
Oh this had to be important.
"Hi Kurt" Duff greeted. "I know this is out of the blue, but it's about Ashlyn"
My ears perked up and my heart began to race. What the hell happened this time?
"What happened? Is she hurt?" I asked, panicking.
"No. But she might be, if we don't act fast." He said. I raised an eyebrow. What did he mean? "Ashlyn told me everything. She also told me that Izzy tried attacking her today as well but she stabbed him"
What? Ashlyn?
Atta girl.
But how did Izzy even get to her?
"He's a dead man" I mumbled. "Where was Chris in all this?"
"It's a lot to answer man. But the fact of the matter is, she needs you. She thinks you hate her but she really needs you. Please just go over there and take her out of that hell"
Present Day
I drove in silence, along the dark streets of Seattle, stealing a glance at Ashlyn every now and then.
Her face was emotionless. She didn't seem happy, sad, angry, scared or anything like that. Her face didn't read anything.
Yet, she seemed calm.
I knew something wasn't right. She was hurting a lot. The poor girl had been through so much in such little time.
I had to kickstart her on the road to recovery. And this time round, there would be no roadblocks.
So, I changed my destination, and drove instead to somewhere that I thought would clear her mind a bit.
She seemed to be so lost in thought that she didn't even notice my change of course.
A while passed, and I finally reached our destination. Ashlyn seemed a bit more aware as she through the window in confusion.
"What's going on?" She asked. I smiled.
"Do you trust me?"
She was silent for a long while but eventually, she nodded.
"I do, Kurt" Music to my ears.
"Then follow me." I said simply. She nodded and got out of the car. Her eyes shone in surprise as she took in the environment around us.
"Kurt, a waterfall?" She asked, breathlessly. "It's beautiful."
"It's not the only thing that is" I said, making her blush a little. "C'mon, I know where we can sit and get a great view" I said, tugging at her hand gently. She followed me up a hilly path to some rocks which looked sturdy enough to sit down on.
The view was marvelous. The moon glistened on the surface of the water creating a wonderful visual experience. The atmosphere was cool and calm. Perfect for deep reflection.
