Chapter 78 - I Think Not

"Krist and Ash aren't back yet?" Michael asked, looking a bit puzzled. It took everything in me not to roll my eyes at him.

Since he and Chantelle broke up, he's been even more clingy to Ashlyn which irks me.

Of course, not in the way Izzy did, I know Mike doesn't see Ash as anything more than a sister. But it just put me off. I didn't like it.

"She's a grown up girl. I'm sure she's fine" I brushed off, trying to hide my annoyance. "I want her to spend the night at my house today"

"Absolutely not" Mike interjected. "There's no need for that. You basically have her to yourself twenty four seven here"

"Yeah but, she's definitely feeling choked up here. Or she will be soon. She has to change environments soon. To speed up the healing process" I said.

"No. She has to stay here. With me. That's final" Mike declared, with a frown. "I don't wanna put her in harms way."

"Mike you know she's safe with me. Heck, you let her go out with Krist. And she still goes out to meet Cornell for her self defense lessons. She'll be fine" I assured, with a tone of annoyance.

"I agree with Kurt. You're getting too protective over my sister Mike. Remember she's my sister, not yours" Axl, who was playing video games casually on the console added.

"Preach man" I cheered on as Michael rolled his eyes. "I know you're bored without a girlfriend. You'll live" I teased.

"Oh please. It's not like you have one either. You're not even dating Ash yet" Michael shot back as Axl and I burst into laughter. "What's so funny?"

"Dude, Kurt and Ashlyn have been in a relationship for months. Kurt just hasn't made it official yet" Axl pointed out once again. "Which really begs the question, why did I give him my approval?"

I rolled my eyes but said nothing. I don't know how aware either of them were about my drug issues but I didn't intend to drive the comb further.

Luckily, I didn't have to as at that moment, Krist and Ashlyn stepped into the house.

I smiled at the sight of my girl but my smile quickly faded when I noticed the frown on her face and that on Krist's face.

Something was wrong. They were both clearly pissed.

What the hell happened?

"Ashlyn let Chris kiss her" Krist spat out, not even trying to mask his disgust.

"I didn't. He was just..."

"What the hell did you just say?" Axl asked, his tone sounding dark as he threw his controller to the floor, glaring at his sister.

Oh hell no. I'm not about to have something start. Why would Krist even drop a bombshell like that when Axl was present?

"It's a lie! He was whispering something in my ear. Why would I let Chris kiss me?" Ashlyn defended.

"Shut the hell up Ash!" Axl yelled, stunning the poor girl and he made his way towards her. I was faster though, as I quickly stepped in front of her, shielding her from him.

Not that I expected him to hit her but, better safe than sorry.

"Axl. Calm down. This could just be a misunderstanding. Don't you trust your sister?" Michael asked, trying to dilute Axl's anger. But he wasn't budging.

"Okay tell me, what would Krist gain from lying? Not to mention, she has become way too cozy with Cornell in recent days. How do I know she isn't lying to protect him?" Axl thundered.
