Harry, Ron, and Hermione left the next day without a word. No note, no waves goodbye, not even waiting for anyone else to wake up. Gone, on their way to save the world.
Juniper thought it was a bit rude, but she was no where near as offended as Bill or Fleur, who huffed and puffed in annoyance as she straightened up the rooms they had so abruptly left. Juniper tried her best to stay out of the way, not wanting to reveal her conversation with Hermione, in case they turned on her too. Fred didn't even speak about it until the next day."Where do you think they're off to?" Fred asked as he and Juniper stood ankle-deep in the ocean in front of Bill and Fleur's house. The waves lapped at their feet gently and rhythmically. Fred's eyes were fixated on the horizon, his voice a lot softer than usual.
"Where ever they were off to before they got caught?" Juniper suggested, leaning into his side, her fingers playing with the frayed hem of the sweater she'd stolen from him. She squinted up at him, unable to help the smile that crossed her face. His hair seemed to glow in the sunlight, something she always noticed, but never truly appreciated before now.
"And where could that possibly be? They took that goblin with them." Although his thumb rubbed soothing circled into the back of Juniper's hand, his voice had a tinge of irritation.
"Gringotts, maybe?" Juniper suggested, her head tilting to rest against his bicep. She let out a slow, deep sigh, breathing in the salt air. "Somewhere important. They're important people."
"Too important to say goodbye?" Fred muttered, his arm tensing under Juniper's cheek. "To their family, the people that took them in? The other's said goodbye, right?"
"Dean and Luna?" Juniper frowned, pulling her hair away from her face as the breeze pushed it back. "I think so, I don't really remember. I feel like I've lived a thousand lives, and forgotten them all too. My brain is just... mush."
"I'll remember them." Fred's expression softened immediately, turning his head to his the top of her head, his lips lingering as he muttered against her hair. "I'll remember every single one for you."
Junipers chest tightened at the words, staying silent as she squeezed his hand in response. They stood quietly, everything feeling so distant, except for the sound of the waves and his presence. Juniper thought she could stay like this forever, tucked into him, using him as an anchor, like the rest of the world didn't matter. She wished it would stay like that.
Finally, Fred broke the silence with a playful nudge to her side."Do you think we could do it now?"
"Now?" Juniper tilted her head up, her lips sliding into a smirk. She glanced over her shoulder at the house, hesitant but intrigued. She slowly slid the sweater off a shoulder, a teasing spark in her eyes. "I'm down."
"Woah, woah." Fred barked out a laugh, tugging the sweater back up, pulling her closer into him by the neck of the fabric. He gave her a long, satisfying kiss that made her knees buckle slightly, but not enough for him to notice. "I like where your heads at, but that's not what I meant."
"I was about to say..." Juniper laughed awkwardly, leaning into him. "It'd be really weird, considering your brother and his wife can probably see us from the window."
"You were totally about to have sex on the beach with me." Fred grinned down at her, his eyes sparkling with a mischief he hadn't felt in a long time. "Kinky little freak."
"Shut up!" Juniper scoffed, smacking his chest lightly as he r cheeks flushed. "You're the freak for not wanting to have sex on the beach with me."
"What can I say?" Fred laughed, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her back into him. "I'm saving outdoor sex for when we finally run away together."
