Chapter 88

Luke

Adriano and I left Spade's place and headed back to the hotel, I made a mental note to call Stefano later and tell him that we'd left, true to what Adriano said, he was indeed exhausted, because the minute we got back to the hotel room, he took a quick shower and was out like a light, leaving just me on the bed with my laptop, I was doing some work.

When we left for New York, I decided this time that I won't just leave everything to Alicia, I would work from New York, all she had to do was represent me in the meetings that I couldn't attend electronically.

I looked at the time and it was past 12 already and I needed to go to sleep too, I was fucking exhausted, Adriano and I still need to discuss when we'd leave, we've gone to Spade's party, we've stayed two extra days, even though I feel everything is cool and we shouldn't leave in a hurry, I think we should.

I closed my laptop, and placed it on the bedside table, about to pull the duvet over Adriano when I heard a knock on the door, it was faint because I had the bedroom door shut, and the knock was coming from the living room, but I heard it.
I didn't order room service and I'm sure no one would be up by this time to come see me, and I'm sure as hell Adriano isn't expecting anyone, especially by this time of the night, so who could it be?

I sighed out, hopping off the bed and fixing the sheets on Adriano's body, before I made my way out into the living room, I was being careful, I didn't want to wake Adriano up, so I shut the door to the bedroom.

I was completely shirtless, with just my sweatpants on.
I walked towards the door, looking through the peephole, I frowned because I could see Stefano standing there, what is he doing here? That too at this time of the night?

I opened the door, revealing him on the other side "Stef...." He brushed past me, causing me to frown, okay, that's not weird at all.

I shut the door and turned to face him, he looked different from the way he did earlier this evening, he looked pissed off, but more so he looked rough, his hair was scattered and his eyes looked red, causing me to worry a little bit.
"What's going on? What are you doing here"? I asked and he just clenched his jaw, his eyes raking through my body, I cocked my brows up at him, did he have a fight with Matteo again?

"Why"? He asked in a whisper and I frowned, my brows pulling up as I stared at him.

"What"? I asked and he just sighed out heavily

"Why did you do it"? He asked again, this time his voice harder than before "why would you do that to him? Luke you knew he was there, and yet you..." He paused, clenching his jaw and looking away from me, okay now I'm very confused, I don't know what he's talking about

"Stef, I don't know what you're talking about, you're confusing me, who is where"? I asked and he just scoffed out, I could hear the annoyance in his voice

"Cut the crap Luke, don't play dumb with me" he gritted out, and I felt my heart drop, he sounded exactly the way he always did when I just came to New York, and it was scaring the fuck out of me, I haven't seen him like this since then.
"You knew Hewitt was there, you knew he was in Spade's mansion and you knew he could hear you, yet you went ahead to rub it in his face"? He rushed out and I let out a shaky breath

"What"? I whispered out, I don't know if I understand what he just said, but hearing him say Hewitt was in Spade's house, it made everything stop for me, is he saying Hewitt was there when... No, no, no, it can't be

"For fuck sakes stop this, you're my best friend Luke and i Iove you, but when you do this.... When you pretend not to know something when you really actually do, it pisses me the fuck off" he gritted out angrily "do you even know how much pain he's in right now? I know you don't want to be with him and I'm not against your relationship with Adriano, but Luke you're taking this too far" he rushed out, what is he on about? I know what he's driving at but that's not what happened, and I wasn't even aware Hewitt was in Spade's mansion when I was there with Adriano.
"I know he said and did some fucked up things to you, but Luke he already apologized to you, if you don't want to be with him that's fine with me, but you don't have to hurt him to prove a point" he whispered finally, causing me to clench my jaw, my stomach churned, I couldn't tell if it was anger I was feeling or pain.
