--- Steve's Point of View ---

We both walked to the edge of the wall, they people who were firing was quite a bit off in the distance, I moved to the side of the hits trying to get a better look at them, I had to focus on them for a moment as my brain tried to recognize what I was seeing.

"They don't look human." I muttered.

"Really."

Bucky came over to stand beside me, they didn't look human, they looked, odd.

"Fuck they are not."

"What on earth?"

After a second a strange sensation happened to us both, it was like we missed a step while we were walking, like falling but we were on stable ground.

"Did you feel that?"

"Yeah, that was odd." I looked around thinking something might have happened with the shield, but it looked okay, nothing seemed to be out of place or had changed.

We both turned at the same time as we started to hear the unmistakable sound of crying coming from the cottage, without saying a word to one another we started walking back to the house.

Our super soldier hearing helped us hear it from a distance, with ease we opened the front door and walked inside - we walked into the backroom, she was pacing with Amberle who was putting up a bit of a fuss, she looked worried.

Wordlessly

Bucky walked up to her and took Amberle from her and started to bouche her, she wrapped her arms around herself.

"Is everything okay?" I asked, she looked like she was lost in thought, like she was far away, she suddenly looked over at me, startled.

"Yeah...what did you see?"

"It's odd, they don't look human."

"Aliens?" She questioned softly.

"We think so, babe are you alright?" I walked forward and she looked shell shocked, really like she was lost in her own mind, there was an expression in her eyes that I couldn't quite understand.

"Yeah."

"Why don't you get some sleep, or at least some rest." Bucky added. "We will look after Amberle."

Again she looked down and I saw the worry in her expression.

"What is it...what are you not telling us." I pressed, she let out a sigh and refused to look at me directly.

"Nothing, I'm going to lie down."

She was lying, but I couldn't understand why.

--- Your Point of View ---

{When Steve and Bucky are at the shield}

You were holding your daughter kissing the back of her head as she giggled, clearly unaware of the danger around the two of you.

After a moment of pacing a little with her –

something seemed out of place, the noise from outside had stopped, and there was a stillness around you, it was a very eerie stillness.

"Hello."

You felt your heart jump into your throat as you turned around to see who had spoken to you, standing before you was...a ghost and...a god.

Tony Stark, looking a bit younger and standing beside him was Loki, both were wearing what could only be described as civilian clothes.

Behind them I saw a orange light in the shape of a door seemingly blink off.

"Don't be afraid, we have paused time for a moment, we need to talk."
