so i havent properly updated in a week and i feel bad. i've written this about a week or two ago. enjoy.

The era of Folie à Deux is a time Fall Out Boy fans will never forget. Filled with meaningful lyrics written by bassist Pete Wentz and appearances by Paris Hilton in their music videos, it is an age unappreciated by the media, but appreciated by their audience before the two-year hiatus. Although the thirteen-track album wasn't a hit, it still welded into the hearts of Fall Out Boy lovers, and should continue to move others.

"Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes" opens the album with the lines "I'm coming apart from the seams/pitching myself for leads in other people's dreams." Already, the band grabs the listener's attention with heartfelt, relatable lyrics. It starts off with the soft sounds of a keyboard, then flows into a more elaborate piece with smooth guitar tones courtesy of Joe Trohman. The song's mantra "detox just to retox" can be heard in the chorus and the bridge, in perfect timing with the booms of Andy Hurley's drum pounding. The song hypes fans up for the rest of the album, making them hope each track is as great as "Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes."

"Down set one hut hut hike/Media Blitz" sings front man, Patrick Stump. "America's Suitehearts" has a unique vibe with its references to classic cars and coke. The song tells about the struggles of two lovers living in a press-stricken world is remarkable. Through the lyrics, one can learn that the did premarital sex, are expecting, and are experiencing backlash from society. Pete Wentz's eloquent writing style added to the piece, making it a perfect fit with the rest of the songs on Folie à Deux. The music video features the ever-so-fabulous Paris Hilton, making the title "America's SUITEhearts" more appreciable.

"What A Catch, Donnie" is much more serious than the love story "America's Suitehearts." It deals with the ideas of having low confidence and desperately trying to be loved by yourself and others. The concept is portrayed in the opening lines "I got troubled thoughts/and the self-esteem to match/what a catch." Pieces of older hits like "Sugar, We're Going Down," "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs," and "Grand Theft Autumn" in the bridge gives the song a nostalgic touch. It also features the lyrics "I will never end up like him/behind my back I already am/keep a calendar so this way you will always know" from another song on the album, "Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet." "What A Catch, Donnie" was written to bring tears to the eyes of listeners and leaving them with the feeling of not being so alone.

The much underrated album by Chicago raised band, Fall Out Boy, deserves the attention of every music lover. The lyrics are deep and the tunes are masterfully constructed. The album is bound to make anyone feel emotions never experienced before: ecstasy, melancholy, liberation, and many more. Folie à deux is "delusion or mental illness shared by two people in close association" but to anyone who listened to the album, it is a sense of comfort.
