Paramore by Paramore

2009 isn't over yet, because Paramore is still rocking the stage. Ever since their self-titled album released last year, Paramore created something for emo pop fans to dance to. With dynamic vocals from Hayley Williams, guitar shredding from Taylor York, and rhythmic bass playing from Jeremy Davis, Paramore is definitely not a letdown. The acoustic interludes and upbeat tunes are perfect for all music fans of a wide variety of ages. Even though it may be a stretch from their normal angsty songs, the album certainly still works and it deserves a listen.

Hailing from Franklin, Tennessee, the trio had numerous hits back in 2007 and 2009. Some popular singles such as "Misery Business" from their album RIOT! and "Ignorance" from their album brand new eyes had a much more punk rock sound. Now, in Paramore, one of their hit singles is "Still Into You." The song is catchy and about love. Typically these clichè pieces rise to the top of the charts. However, the sound and melody of "Still Into You" was like no other. The instruments weren't heavy and Williams sang each note with passion. I especially loved the part in the bridge where she belted the lyrics "Baby, not a day goes by that I'm into you" effortlessly. "Still Into You" was loved by a vast majority of fans, and it gave the band even more recognition.

Some other songs such as "Daydreaming," "Grow Up," and "Ain't It Fun" conveyed deep meanings and important themes. "Daydreaming" is a song that can make anyone feel alive and youthful. It was about being young, but wanting to live a better and more grown up lifestyle. Next was "Grow Up," which is about letting go of insignificant people and maturing. Lastly, there is another hit single, and that is "Ain't It Fun." This song tells how the real world isn't actually what your daydreams might have expected. With a gospel choir and playful melodies, "Ain't It Fun" is absolutely amazing. All three of these songs tie in perfectly together to teach an important life lesson: you should enjoy being childlike and not grow up too fast.

One of my favorite songs on the album is "Last Hope." It began as a slow, angsty piece, but as it continues, the words start to get motivational and the pace quickens. All the are lyric wonderful, but the best was "It's just a spark, but it's enough to keep me going." That line is so simple, but it's still very eloquent. The ending, however, is pure excellence. The whole band chimes in to sing "Gotta let it happen" and it creates a sound that just made my heart melt. Williams then continues to sing the chorus along with some beautifully-written lyrics overlaid in it. "Last Hope" was another magnificent edition to the album

"Part II" was yet another great song. It's called "Part II" because it's a sequel to their song, "Let the Flames Begin" on their album RIOT! Usually sequels are never as good as the original, but Paramore managed to make this piece equally glorious. The opening lines of "Part II" "Let the Flames Begin" were very similar, mentioning "such fragile broken things." Also, like both songs, "Oh glory" was repeated throughout in a light tone. The choruses' lyrics and sound were also very alike. However, both songs can stand on their own, and "Part II" was a great sequel to "Let the Flames Begin."

Overall, I thought Paramore was the best album the band released. It surprised me how a band can go from angsty rock music to fun pop. From here, their music can only get better. The whole album was good there was not a thing I didn't like about it. At the end of November, a deluxe version of Paramore was released, and that only gave fans more music to listen to. With live versions of songs from this album and previous ones, as well as demos and unreleased treasures, the deluxe version was really wonderful. Critics have said that Paramore's era ceased in 2009, but they reign again as one of the best bands in America today.
