when people give false information about diseases, mental illnesses, or anything like that, I want to slap them so so so so so hard. I read a fanfiction, it was one of those adopted by a youtuber fanfictions, and the main character had autism.
the way the writer portrayed it didn't even sound like she had autism. it sounded like she had a learning disability, like dyslexia. not quite autism.
autism is when the brain thinks too fast for you to speak. most autistic people either don't speak or have trouble speaking, but they are still pretty smart, especially in math, arts, and music. they also don't respond quickly to things, like when people call their name. it's a sad thing, and I know this because I know a kid who is autistic. also, from a book I remember reading long ago, I believe they don't like loud noises, or anything really "busy." they like plain and simple things.
you can read more at autismspeaks.org c: I actually donated 2 dollars to autism today when I went to the store. it was the only money I had on me, but eh, still sort of makes a difference.
so point is, please please please please research anything if you don't know about it. PLEAAAASSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. then I won't have to slap you. I found a master post on tumblr that covers some stuff, and it also has a lot of other things. If I find it again I will link it in the comments.
