I N A Y A

As we stepped into the wedding hall, a sea of guests and relatives filled the space. His hand held mine firmly as we walked inside.

I looked up at him, his face straight and emotionless. His cousin is getting married, shouldn't he smile a little? And I've noticed that he rarely smiles in front of people.

But I'm afraid I'll have to punch some ladies today if they try to get to him and trust me when I say this! He's looking so freaking handsome, that all the adjectives wouldn't be sufficient.

It's not everyday he wears a Tuxedo and a black one. Allah jii! He knows my weaknesses kya? If yes, then he's successful in that. Because I don't think I'll be able to take my eyes off him today.

We walked towards where the rest of the family was seated, save for the glances I received all this while. The ladies eyed me like I had stolen their son-in-law! In a way, I guess I did. And I have zero regrets

"How's your health now?" Mom asked, followed by Dadi. I smiled reassuringly that I was fine. Seema aunt and Nayla gave me knowing glances, rolling their eyes. As if I give a crap? Huh!

The Nikah ceremony went on smoothly. I felt emotional as I remembered the day I was at this point of life. Things have gotten better after that, and I don't regret that day of my life-The day I was named as his.

We walked towards the stage, greeting the bride and the groom. Ahad crouched down slightly and caressed her head, a loving brotherly gesture. "I pray for all the happiness for you. Stay happy and blessed Shahida". He prayed.

Then, turning to the groom, his voice turned authoritative. "You're taking our gem with you. You better treasure her". The groom smiled and assured him he would.

I walked toward Shahida, recalling how she had spoken to me just once after my marriage, when she visited Sasha and Hafsa. "Congratulations dear!" I smiled, caressing her hand gently.

"Thank you Bhabi". She spoke shyly and we walked down after having a short talk.

As it was time for lunch, my cramps had to show up. I was actually wondering about how they let me live in peace all this morning. Thankfully, I had my pills with me. Me, Ahad and rest of the family settled on the round table.

We ate while chatting randomly, and these two-Asim and Ahad were busy staring! I'm damn sure about Asim now, he has a thing for Hafsa. He wasn't even hiding it anymore, sneaking glances every chance he got.

And my husband! He won't just let me eat in peace. How am I supposed to eat simply when he's looking at me like thaaatt? With those eyeess??

Once we were done with the food, which was very difficult for me! We walked back to the hall and my legs were hurting badly. Even though this dress was not that heavy or troubling, it was still tiring me. We huffed and plopped down on the couches, it was nearly five in the evening.

By the time reception had started, it was already dark outside. The hall glowed with fairy lights and bright smiles. The elders reminisced about old times, smiling happily.

As the time passed by, we found ourselves engrossed in fun talks. And all this while, Ahad and the rest were unknown! I saw them leaving, but I don't know where.
