I N A Y A
The car was silent as we were driving back to home, except for the silent hum of the engine.
He apologised for his mistake, swore that he lied, and promised to make up for his mistake. It felt like all my anger had vanished into thin air. The sincerity in his eyes, the concern, the want to make things right, the pain that flickered in there was something I never saw in someone's eyes for me before.
He was known for his arrogance, anger and silence. But for me, he didn't care about that, he had left his ego behind and apologised. For us. And I just couldn't stay angry at him anymore.
I melted helplessly.
When he had looked at me as if my silence was breaking him. I felt overwhelmed, no words formed in my head and I just wanted him to hold me close. I wanted to feel his warmth, listen to his steady heartbeat, and just cry my heart out. And he let me.
He held me until I cried, he let all my worries flow down and rest on his chest. This was what I had wanted, someone who doesn't panick when I cry, who just knew to hold me and tell me to let it all out, assuring that he was there in a wordless embrace.
My idiot cheeks also betrayed me in his presence, turning warm again and again, Giving him the complete satisfaction of how his closeness affected me. Traitor heart.
"You're beautiful when you smile." His remark pulled me out of my trance. I realised I was smiling, recalling everything from before.
"Tell me something I don't know." I teased, my lips twitching into a small smile. He chuckled. "You're blushing right now," and said so casually that my eyes widened. I knew that... but I couldn't agree. Of course.
He looked at me teasigly and I averted my gaze, looking outside the window. And when I stayed silent, he asked, "Do you go there often?"
"Yeah. Everytime I feel I need some space alone, I go there." I spoke and he hummed, his focus returning to the road.
We reached after a while, and entered the mansion. It was close to midnight now. Mom was seated in the living area doing some knitting work, stopping when we walked inside.
"You haven't slept yet, Mom?" Ahad asked and she smiled at us. "I was waiting for both of you."
Her frown deepened when her gaze caught mine. "Inaya, beta! Were you crying? Your eyes are swollen." I sighed, facepalming mentally as Ahad and I exchanged glances.
"No Mom, I'm having a little cold that's why." I said and she smiled a little before turning to Ahad with a serious expression. "If I see her cry because of you. You're doomed, young man."
I giggled instantly, pursing my lips in silence when Ahad narrowed his eyes at me. Mom chuckled, ruffling his hair and left after wishing us good night.
"Did you have the bun I brought for you?" I asked him as we stepped up the stairs together.
The mansion was quiet as everyone was probably asleep. Ahad's shoulders dropped in that familiar way he'd do when he was with me.
"No." He answered and I glared at him, "I brought it for you all the way from there and you didn't even have it?" My tone held disappointment.
