"Evacuate the mansion, Inaya! Take Sasha and Hafsa out of the back door to my cottage!! Be quick!"

Ahad's voice exploded through the device and my brain stopped functioning for five whole seconds before it snapped back into motion. I muttered an okay and hung up immediately, rushing towards their room.

"SASHA!! HAFSA!!" I called out and they flinched, standing up immediately at my state.

"We need to leave! Be quick!!!" I held their hands and both of them frowned as they asked, "What's wrong, Bhabhi?"

"It's not the time to question anything. Ahad called and he told me to do so!"

As we were walking towards the backdoor, my eyes widened as I realised that Ahmed was somewhere inside the mansion. As I thought of calling him, the sirens in the mansion were suddenly activated.

"INTRUSION ALERT!!"

"INTRUSION ALERT!!"

My heart raced, the blaring of warnings shutting something off inside me. I ushered the girls to leave as we saw a car standing just outside, our usual driver asking us to hurry in.

I turned around, dialling Ahmed as my hands trembled badly.

"Shit, shit, shit-no, not now, please cooperate..." I muttered under my breath, over and over, the world spinning around me as the noise in my head grew louder, more chaotic.

'Take her to the hospital!'

'Let me see her!! One last time.. p-please!'

My trail was broken when Ahmed received the call. "Ah-Ahmed, where are you??" I asked breathlessly, feeling the commotion outside, crashing into my ears.

Through the windows, I could see them.

Armed men. Dressed in all blacks.

"Bhabhi!! What are you still doing in the mansion?? Please leave!!"

"B-but what about you? Come with us!!" I almost yelled, walking far towards the backyard.

"No! Just go! I've got backup - I need to stay and handle this, Bhabhi. Be quick!"

"Take care, okay?" I breathed, my voice turning hoarse as I finally walked out.

The silence in the car was suffocating as it sped through the streets. Ahad's cottage was tucked away in some deserted area, almost like a route to the forest. It was the same place he had brought me to after that attack at Shahida's wedding.

"Why's the mansion under attack, Bhabhi?" Hafsa asked after a pause, while Sasha was simply staring out of the window.

I looked forward as I replied, "We don't know yet..."

It was silent again and I could feel my stomach trembling, the chaos in my head threatening to consume me. I dialled Mom and Dad, informing them to stay where they were until we'd inform them otherwise.

I punched the password as the door slid open and we walked in. I could smell the wood, the scent of fresh air, something that mingled with his scent.

As Sasha and Hafsa walked into the room, I rushed towards the nearest basin and splashed water on my face continuously. My chest heaved with rapid breaths, heart beating wildly.

I gripped the sink and just as I looked into the mirror, undoing my roughly made hijab and collecting my hair into fists as I muttered under my breath, "Ya Allah! Please keep them safe..."
