A/N- I've added an announcement to my message board, pasting the same here for readers who aren't following me.
EARLY UPDATE!!❤️
Firstly because the response on the recentmost chapter was so heartwarming, it made me happy beyond words. I feel fortunate to have readers as amazing as you all( >Д<;)✨️
Secondly—a quick life update—I have a very important exam coming up on next Sunday, followed by a tooth removal surgery on Monday which might take around a week to heal.
So, I might be inactive here for around two weeks which means no updates since I won't be able to write, but I'll reply to your comments and texts here.
I hope you all enjoy reading, and take good care of yourselves❤️
With lots of love,
~BrokenByChoice~

The sun had dipped beneath the horizon when my car moved through the narrow streets. The location blinked on the screen in front.
80mph.
Ten more miles.
Time: six-fifty.
I stopped three miles away, my fingers tapping on the steering in an unsteady rhythm. My foot tapped, nerves buzzing with adrenaline and a hint of fear I refused to acknowledge.
Exactly at seven, a voice trailed in through my earpiece.
“Sir, twenty.”
My jaw clenched once but I kept my face blank. Pulling out my phone, I dialled Tom, who received it on the first ring.
“Sixty,” I said.
“Alright.”
I hung up, waiting there for ten more minutes before I left for the Jahden Sites.
The road kept narrowing until all I could see was the unfinished, jagged, and half constructed estates. This place was said to be destroyed in bombing, and now no one wandered here.
I stepped down from the car, leaving my phone and everything else in the car's dashboard. I pressed on my suit pocket once, then walked further as the voice of my shoes crunching cement echoed.
Casting a glance across the building, I tried to find shadows if there were any, but found none. Of course.
My gaze caught Hassan then. He looked a bit different from the one I had met months ago. He looked weaker, like the demolishing of his business had cast more effect than he let on.
He was leaning against a half-risen pillar, a half smile sitting on his lips as he watched me. “The Qureshi is late, that's new.”
I narrowed my eyes. “Drop weapons if any, you've already broken your part of the deal.”
His eyebrows raised as he lifted his empty palms. He then turned, showing he had nothing on his waist as he wore only a dress shirt and formal pants.
I obviously didn't trust him. But I nodded anyway, walking forward.
The place was open, a few barrels and stacks of bricks placed nearby as the orange streetlight painted the night air.
He settled on one of them and made me do the same. I stayed alert but didn't let it show as my fingers tapped against my knee.
