I N A Y A
My body shivered at the sight infront of me, hands trembling as I held it. I gasped audibly, tears streaming continuously from my eyes.
It was Mumma's journal, s-smeared in her blood.
Ahad came forward and hugged me, placimg his arms around my shoulders and rubbing his hands in circles in order to calm me down. I clutched on his shirt tightly, burying my head in his chest hoping that when we pull back, There's nothing, no gift or no journal. But this was real! Too real for me to believe.
I knew Mumma used to write a journal but I never saw it from inside. She'd always carry it with her. But after that accident, I tried restlessly to search for that journal but couldn't find it. But here it is, as my wedding gift.
I quickly pulled away and wiped away my tears vigorously, Ahad was startled but he didn't say anything. I looked at the journal again, it had blood stains, the outer cover unchanged. Where was it all this time? Who has sent it now? How did this person get it?
I got up quickly, holding the journal close to my chest. "I'll return before dinner". With that I stormed out, ignoring everyone seated in the hall, I drove straight to my farmhouse.
As I entered, I barged into the room where I had kept all the belongings of Mumma. Yes, after she passed away, I brought them all and kept it with me. I entered the closet, took one of her dupattas and cried sniffing the cloth. Her smell fresh.
It felt like I was holding her, no words can describe how much I miss her, how much I long for her!
I walked out into my room where all the collected documents and information is present. I took the journal and opened it slowly, tears still falling down.
Samra Asad Khan.
I'm just a normal woman who lives for her family. My husband whom I love more than anything ever and my sunshines who always make sure to lighten my day.
Asad Khan is my husband, the perfect man I could ever ask for. He's an ideal father for my children and my best half.
Aayu, my eldest daughter, my strength and my love. She's such a troublemaker, but deep down. I know that she understands everything and cares. She'll definitely make an amazing woman when she grows up.
How can I forget Abby, he's the most notorious one. He fights with Aayu like there is no tomorrow but loves her like this is the last chance he has. I can see the man he's turning into. Responsible and loving.
That was the introduction to my sweet, lovely family.
I'll talk to you tomorrow.
Babyye!!
Tears didn't stop for a minute, while reading this, I could imagine her voice. How she called me Aayu and called Abbas as Abby. I turned the page but couldn't read any further. I closed it silently, it was time for maghrib (dawn) prayer.
I prayed and cried my heart out infront of Allah. He knew my pain and I knew that he can ease it in ways no one can. I got up and drove back to the mansion.
As I entered, I saw Mom laughing with Sasha and Hafsa, tears welled up again in my eyes. I pushed them back and walked in with a smile.
"Beta! Done with the work?" Mom asked softly. Which work was she talking about?
"Uh- I"Ahad entered and cut me off,"You left in such urgency that they were worried, so I informed them that you have just left for some urgent work". He gave me a knowing look and I smiled, "Yeah, yeah! Done". I spoke hesitatingly and we walked inside.
