I N A Y A

The silence in the room was deafening as I paced around. Ahad had called for dinner in his designing room only, making it clear that he was too busy. I fiddled with my fingers, having second thoughts of whether to tell him or not.

But the more I'd keep it from him, the deeper it would hurt.

I inhaled deeply, straightening up as I walked towards the designing room. An action as simple as twisting the doorknob felt heavy under my palms, because we all knew how strict he was when it came to rules and principles. And his reaction when he knew Sasha had been doing this all along behind his back only made a shiver run down my spine.

The door opened swiftly and I walked in. Ahad was seated behind the table, papers spread across, a laptop open in front of him as he was focused on sketching something.

"I was wondering why you didn't come yet!" He smiled, speaking without looking at me. I smiled back, walking to him lazily, trying to act okay and composed.

I just stood beside him and he pushed his chair behind a little, opening his one arm for me. I smiled bashfully, walking forward as I settled on his lap sideways. I encircled my arms around his neck, resting my head on his shoulder as I looked simply at the designs he was making.

"How long?" I asked and he spoke after a beat of silence, "Half-an-hour more and I'm done!" I hummed, pressing a kiss to his jaw casually, but smirked when his ears reddened a little.

"You blush a lot around me, Mr.Qureshi!" I pointed out and he tilted his head to look at me with those intense brown eyes as he whispered, "Do I really need to remind you of the things you do in my presence, sweetheart?" That shut me up as I groaned playfully and hid my face in his neck.

This man.. Ugh!!

We just sat like that for a while as I thought of telling him everything, but couldn't bring myself to. His hand that was caressing my waist, came up to hold my hand as he pressed a kiss to it before he spoke, "Mehendi looks beautiful on you, you should apply it often."

I just hummed, he made me look at him as he scanned my face for a few seconds and asked, "Are you worried about something?"

I was really caught off guard by his question as I asked back, "Why'd you ask?"

"Your breaths are uneven." He said casually and I stilled for a second before he asked again, "You know you can talk about anything to me, right?"

I just looked at his face for a few seconds before I asked calmly, "If I ever made a mistake... what would you do, Ahad?"

"I'd forgive, but mistakes, in my language, exclude betrayal. I don't forgive that... Why?" He met my gaze at the end and I gulped invisibly, shutting my eyes as I hugged him again.

"Inaya!" He called out and him taking my full name was an indication that he wasn't buying anything other than truth and clarity right now. I looked up at him and literally gasped when he asked further, "Is it about Sasha?"

I stared at him stunned. "Why?" I asked and he shrugged casually as he replied, "She has been silent since yesterday, I've noticed it.. I wanted to talk to her today but couldn't make time for it. Did she tell you something?"

I stammered with words, not being able to find the perfect words to tell him. Ahad, who had obviously noticed it, his expressions turned serious, something I hadn't seen in days. He held my chin and lifted my face up, making me look at him as he asked, "Is everything okay?" his eyes were narrowed slightly, making my insides twist.

I shut my eyes as I muttered out the words, "Sasha.. isn't actually fine.." I trailed off, unsure of what to say.

"What do you mean 'not fine'?" His eyes were now serious, an undercurrent of emotions whirling in them.
