"What now?" We asked in unison after we were done with the tea and seated in front of the television, talking about everything Dad had revealed to us this afternoon.

I chuckled, resting my head on his shoulder as I replied, "We'll go to Pune first, meet the person Ahmed was talking about there and get the details... Let's see after that!"

His gaze was fixed somewhere afar as he nodded his head. My expressions turned shocked as he spoke all of a sudden, "The incident Dad was talking about my reputation... it's the same one I hid from you!"

"Hmm... you told me to wait and I'm still waiting!" I smiled, interlacing my fingers with his.

He looked down at me, something unreadable filling his eyes as he whispered hoarsely, "Why're you so understanding with me?"

I narrowed my eyes, laughing as I reached up and pecked his jaw. I whispered, "Because someone out there was too inhuman to hurt my man who is the purest soul. And I know how it feels, Ahad... I understand how difficult it is to open up about those deepest scars, because it scares us if the wound might bleed again."

He closed his eyes shut, inhaling sharply like the words left a bitter taste on his tongue before he said it, "I thought I loved her..."

I hummed softly, afraid he might not continue if I looked at him as I kept staring at the fireplace.

But before he could say anything further, the doorbell rang. I looked at him, our confused eyes meeting before he spoke, "Let me check, you get changed!"

I stoodup before yelling a yes as I ran to our room, realising I was dressed in a sweatshirt and pants. It took me a while longer to decide what to wear before I walked down.

Just when I exited the room, a voice halted me in my tracks.

Nayla? What was she doing here?

I refrained from walking further, not in any mood to listen to her nonsense. Her back was facing me as she sat on the couches across Ahad who was too busy working on his laptop.

"Why aren't you understanding?" She asked and I frowned, stepping a little closer to hear her properly.

What was she talking about?

"What is it, Nayla? Be clear!" Only a fool could miss the annoyance in his tone.

Nayla scoffed, shaking her head as she snapped, "I'm only looking out for you, I actually care!"

My fists balled, anger rising up my head. Ahad raised a perfect brow, a small smirk paying on his lips. "I never knew caring meant barging into my wife's home and insulting her!"

He was clearly furious and for a moment, I was honestly scared for Nayla.

But she was here for it, to infuriate him and stir trouble. Her voice rose as she yelled this time, "She's manipulating you! Why don't you see that? You weren't like this before her, Ahad!! Oh god! How do I make you understand this!??"

Ahad closed his laptop silently, his dark eyes lifting up to glare at her as he laughed. "Wow! really? Thank you so much, Nayla!! You saved my life..." His expressions shifted to serious ones in a millisecond as he spat, "Now. Leave!"
