I N A Y A
I traced the contours of his face as he slept peacefully beside me. I smiled, trailing a finger along his jaw, nose and closed eyes.
My heart felt full and lighter, like the feelings buried within me had been overwhelming all this while. And now that I had confessed my love for him, I felt complete. Beautiful in ways that were new to me.
He had been smiling all this while, looking at me with those dreamy eyes like he couldn't believe this was real.
We had eaten the pastry and I was already full, so we decided to skip dinner. We had then talked while laying on the bed until he fell asleep while I was rambling about random stuff.
But sleep seemed far from my eyes. Everytime I closed them, my mind wandered to this precious human beside me.
How had I been this fortunate?
To be loved by someone who had lost belief in it.
To be the receiver of his exclusive gentle treatment.
I smiled to myself, my cheeks turning warm as I recalled the way we had laughed all the while, prayed Isha together and just talked like best friends, reunited after years.
And that was when I realised-Home wasn't a place, it was a person.
I turned to face the ceiling, muttering silent prayers under my breath for the protection of our relationship from all evil eyes and powers. I had found love where I had least expected, and now, I was going to protect it at all costs.
I admired him with a soft smile as I didn't realise when sleep took over me.
