Hunters POV:
"What do you two need?" I ask Reid and Aaron, while Noah watches the others leave. "I didn't get Theo anything for his birthday and his party is basically tomorrow!" Reid says with a frown. I smile at the exaggeration. "Noah's already got that covered." I say, but Aaron scoffs. "That's Noah's gift." He says emphasizing that it is clearly not from them. "Theo invited all of us, we can't show up with one gift! That's so rude and he would probably be really sad!" Reid explains. "Fair enough, but just so you know we weren't going to show up with just one gift." I say rolling my eyes. "Well we still need to go get something." Aaron says and I nod. "When we get there, you two can look around while I get Noah to try some things on." I say.
"B-but Lex will come back?" Noah asks me for the tenth time. Just be patient. "Yeah buddy, he's going to be home either before we get home, or a little after okay? He's fine." I say, again, but the clear suspicion on his face tells me he's not going to believe me yet. He only asks 3 more times before we reach the mall.
Reid and Aaron browse close by while Noah and I walk around the clothing section. (Guys lmao they're in like a Walmart so it's got toys and clothes and everything) I watch as Noah gently feels each fabric, and we pick out a few things. He gasps, ripping his hand away from a velvet material, and makes a face. "N-no like this!" He says with wide eyes. "That's okay, we don't have to try it or get it okay?" I laugh, because every single one of us can't stand velvet, that trait definitely runs in the family. He makes a face at the velvet and quickly skips ahead away from it.
"This t-too big!" Noah complains trying on another shirt, and I sigh. Everything is either too big or smaller than what he's already got. He frowns looking at everything he's tried on, and sighs heavily. "N-Noah no need new clothes! Can keep o-old ones!" He says frustrated. "Hey, come here." I say holding my hands out for him. "Take a breath. We just need to keep looking, we'll find something." I say, squeezing his hands gently. "But why n-need? Mom—b-bad mommy no get n-new clothes so fast! Noah wear until rip rip rip!" He explains, pointing to his clothes he came in, that has no rips.
"I can't tell you why she did the things she did, or why you were treated the way you were, but here, with me, and all of your brothers, you're always going to be taken care of okay? You're always going to have clean clothes that fit, you're always going to have food, and a bedroom. Whenever you grow, we're going to find new clothes to fit you, just like right now." I say. "S-Spencer and Lex too? Have clean clothes? C-clothes always smelly." He asks me. "Yes, Spencer and Alex too, don't worry, I'll do laundry tonight." I laugh. "Ready to go find some more things to try on?" I ask and he nods. "Ready!" He says, leading the way.
Aaron and Reid join us in our last go at the fitting room. "H-help!" Noah cries out, his head getting stuck in the shirt. "Hold still, I forgot to undo the buttons." I say, setting him free. "Thank you! Show them now p-please!" He says, I nod and he rushes out as I follow. "Wow I love this one!" Aaron says. "It's very cute, I like it a lot." Reid says, as Noah does a spin for them. "Hunter, w-why need shirt with buttons?" Noah asks me. "You could wear a shirt with buttons for lots of things." I start, but Reid and Aaron cut me off. "Oh you could wear it to the spring concert!"(lmao did I call it a spring concert in the previous chapters I can't even remember???) Reid says. "Yeah! You won't be on stage, but in the evening when we do the concert for parents, everyone dresses up super nicely." Aaron adds on. "Wait you are coming to that right?" Reid nervously asks me. "Wouldn't miss it for the world." I say.
"Did we get everything on the list?" I ask Noah, who carefully looks over our checklist. "Not get d-d-dr— what is this?" He says pointing to the one unchecked item. "Dress shoes." Reid frowns, reading it for him. "Don't give me that look bub, we all have dress shoes, we all need them for events, fundraisers, spring concerts." I say specifically naming his concert. "Do your dress shoes still fit?" I ask raising my brow at him. "Well... no. But I don't need them, I can just wear other shoes." He complains. I sigh, pointing him in the direction to get him shoes as well.
"R-Reid! Try this one!" Noah says handing Reid another pair of dress shoes. Noah found his pair on the first try, while Reid is on his fourth. "So shiny! Fit g-good?" Noah questions, inspecting the shoe. "Yeah, this one fits." Reid mumbles. "Yes! Hunter! Reid shoe m-match Noah shoe! Both shiny!" Noah tells me excitedly. "I see buddy, now are we sure we've got everything? No one needs anything else before to go check out?" I ask. "Ok great, let's get going." I say, pushing our cart.
