We were all sitting in the Great Hall eating lunch when Professor Dumbledore stands up to make an announcement. For the first time ever Hogwarts is hosting a Christmas Eve Ball, anyone year three and up can attend.
"A ball sounds so fun," Lily gushes, "I wonder what I'm going to wear?"
"Forget about what to wear. I need to get a date first," Bella sighs.
"Yea, Lil," Iris adds, "Not all of us have the luxury of having a boyfriend."
"Oh please," Lily smiles, "You'll get dates. AND THEN WE CAN GO DRESS SHOPPING"
"Oi shut it!" Remus, James, and Sirius groan through a mouth full of food.
"We're trying to eat!" I groan.
"Oh come onnnnn Maize," Iris pleads.
"You have to be somewhat excited," Lily adds
I shrug, "It's just a dance what's the big deal? I don't have a boyfriend/date so what's the point?"
"And you shouldn't!" My three over protective brothers shouts.
"Oh hush you three." Lily says hitting Sirius and James on the arms, "She's old enough to have a boyfriend."
"Fine," The three of them mutter.
Towards the end of lunch Professor McGonagall made another announcement, "Due to the upcoming ball. There will be a Hogsmeade trip two days from now on December 22, so you can prepare for the ball.
Bella, Lily, and Iris let out an ear splitting squeal before the rapidly begin talking. The finally stop talking 100 words a second before dragging me out of the Great Hall by my arm, shouting along the lines of "We have to start planning."
"Help me!" I plead reaching out to the boys.
James just laughs, "You're on your own sis."

After 3 and a half hours of being held hostage in my own dorm discussing the ball I finally escaped. I was sitting under a willow tree gazing out on the Black Lake.
"Do you have room for one more?" A masculine voice asks.
I look up to see the smiling face of Charlie Wood.
"Uh yea, sure." I smile and scoot over, "So what brings you out by the lake on this moderately warm december day?"
He smirks, "I could ask you the same? And for moderately warm it's 30 degrees and you're only wearing a sweatshirt. How are you not cold?"
I laugh, "I don't know? I've always been a fan of the cold."
"Are you sure you're not cold? I can give you my jacket." He offers.
"That's very nice, but I am okay."
"So what brings you out her?"
"I finally escaped from three and a half hours of torture?"
"Ball preparations?" He asks and I nod, "I thought all girls are into all that makeup and stuff?"
I laugh, "I'm not like most girls. I grew up in a house full of boys."
"So does that mean you aren't going to the dance?"
I smile at the ground, "I would go to the dance if someone asked me. But as of right now, no one has asked me."
He smiles and tilts his head, "What would you say if I asked you to the Ball?"
The question took me by surprise that I choke on air. "Um. um. A"
