James' POV

"I've got it!" I exclaim standing on the table in the common room during our Study Hall.

"Potter sit down," Lily hisses.

It's the day after the quidditch match and we've spent the last hour going over a plan on how to get Snivellus back. After hundreds of useless ideas were thrown around I finally came up with the perfect.

"What does Snape want the most in this world?" I smirk.

"World Domination?" Peter guesses.

And I roll my eyes, "No, he wants Lily's love. It's pretty obvious he's head over heels in love with her."

"It's that harsh though," Lily asks. "Playing with his emotions and all?

"Lily, Lily, Lily." Sirius tsks. "James' plan is the only way to get even. He hurt my sister, who's like a sister to Remus and James. We have to hurt him the same way he hurt us."

"He hurt our little sister and for that he must pay." I add.

Lily sighs, "Ok so what do I have to do?"

"Act like you can't live without him. Shower him with compliments and public displays of affection. Give him cute nicknames. Do whatever you think is right. "I explain, "Just don't kiss him on the lips?"

"Why is that James." She asks and I swear I saw a glint of hope in her eyes

"Yeah James why?" Sirius and Remus repeat wiggling their eyebrows and smirking.

I glare and shake my head "Shut up you two." I take a deep breathe "I want him to be crushed not die from shock because Lily kissed him in the lips. Besides Lily's right there is a line and if she kisses on the lips it'll no longer be for the hell of it. It'll be real life and not even i am that cruel."

The room becomes solemn and silent until I clap my hands and say"Okay let's do this"

We find Snape in the courtyard reading. The boys and I hide behind a pillar as Lily walks up to him. As they talk a knowing feeling grows in my gut.

"You jealous James?" Sirius smirks.

I wave him off and continue to watch. Lily was perfect in every way and I was just boring plain me. Even though we are not together it pained me to see her with someone else especially Snape.

Lily's POV

"Hey Severus." I say sadly twirling my hair around my finger.

"Oh hey Lils didn't see you there," he says staring at the ground blushing, "Would you like to sit?" He asks scooting over making room for me and I sat down.

As much as I wanted to get revenge for Mackenzie this still felt wrong. But I also felt the need to impress James. Recently, I've noticed I didn't get annoyed with him as much as I used too. I could actually stand to be in the same room with him for more than 5 minutes. I'm interrupted from my thoughts my Severus.

My thoughts are interrupted by Severus, "Lily are you listening?"

"Oh sorry I was just daydreaming about a guy I like." I say honestly. "He's tall, has black hair, brown eyes, is funny, smart, plays quidditch and is in a different house then me." I add. I pretty much describe James except for the part where he's in another house.

"Oh." Severus responds looking disappointed.

"Why so sad?" I ask lifting his head up. " I'm talking about you."

"Really?" Severus says shocked. "I thought the Black I hurt was your friend why aren't you mad?"

I swallow hard before lying "She actually isn't she just hangs around me all the time and tries to hook me up with James. Ugh, James I can't stand him and his friends. " I rant, hoping Severus buys my lie and that James doesn't believe a word I'm saying.

"Really?" He says excitedly. "Cause that's way I hit her. She's an annoying little blood traitor, and she's Sirius, Remus, and James' weakness, so if I break her I break them. " he tells me.

My stomach is in knots and I feel sick so I just smile and nod. He's words fly in one ear and out the other until he calls my name.

"What?" I ask.

"I said, Lily would you be my girlfriend and go to hogsmeade with me."

"Oh of course!" I smile, but secretly dying inside, as I throw my arms around him and gave him a hug .

"Good, then I can do this." He says.

Before I can process what was happening his lips crashed roughly against mine. I'm too shocked or dazed to do anything. It's slobbery, wet, and unattractive. He finally pulls away and I paint a fake smile on my face.

He takes my hand, "Come on I'll walk you to class."

He walks me to charms, not letting go of my hand. I feel awful and I probably just ruined any chance I have had with James.

James' POV

I hear everything Lily says to Snivellus, and she's a fantastic actress... or at least I think she's acting. I hope she was, some of the things she said hurt my feelings. But what really crushed me was when she kissed him. ON THE LIPS. She said she wouldn't do it but that's a lie. Now she's holding hands and walking to Charms class with that grease ball. I know this was how the plan was supposed to go but she looked like she was happy. Maybe I should've listened to her when she said she wouldn't date a bully like me. From now on I won't bully people, just prank them here and there.

"Hey mate are you alright?" Sirius asks placing a hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah I'm fine ." I brush his hand off, Even if I'm not I force a smile, "I'm going to take a walk ."

I head up to the astronomy tower thinking of ways to win Lily's favor and try to be a better person.

Lily's POV

Right as the last bell rang, I ran to the hospital wing to see if I could visit Mackenzie. Madame Pomfrey allowed me to see her and I make my way over to her bed. She's sitting up in her bed and reading.

"Hey Lil, whatsapp." She asks smiling but notices my long face and pats the space on the bed next to her..

"Come here and tell me what happened. " she says with her arms open. I quickly rush into them and start to sob silently.

"Shhh" she soothes smoothing down my hair, "Tell me what's wrong."

I take a deep breathe before telling her the whole story, "And James won't look or talk to me, and the other three just look at me like I killed a puppy and I just can't tell Severus, and break up with him because he was my friend and this whole thing is cruel. " I said still crying. "I should have never agreed to do this. And on top of it all I think I have feelings for James."

"It's going to be okay. It'll work itself out and it'll be all better. And with James. I'll talk to him I'm sure he understands you were just lying. At least get you to be friends again. It's better than nothing." She resasures.

I knew I was the older one on this situation, but Mackenzie Black was wise beyond her years.
