The Grey Reality

Dr Shepherd can you....

"Dr Shepherd can you take over here please" Owen asks
"Yea" I said taking over compressions
After getting him back I took him to the OR but I need Derek to help with the surgery I need an experienced surgeon.
"Derek how would you feel about scrubbing in with me" I asked
"I would love to but I'm swamped what about Matthews?" He replied
"Ok I'll page her" I said walking out the door
"Mer?" He called
"Yea" I replied watching him get up and walk towards me
"I love you"
"I love too" I replied placing a kiss on his lips
"Call me if you need me" he said before walking out
2 hours into the surgery
The surgery was going really well we had managed to stop the bleeding and we were moving onto the second one. As I was about to stop the bleed I felt a flutter in my stomach and it just wouldn't stop.
"Someone page Chief Shepherd please 911" I said calmly
"Ok Doctor" a nurse replied
"Are you ok" Spencer asked
"I think my baby is kicking" I said as I stopped the last bleed
"Right go sit down and I'll close" she replied
Derek's POV
"What's wrong" I asked running in
"Dr Shepherd can you come over here and stop your baby from kicking" she replied with a big smile on her face
I walked over to her and squared down. I placed my hand on her stomach and the baby was going crazy.
"Come on let's get you scrubbed out" I said helping her up
"Ok" she replied
We walked down stairs to find my mom sitting in the lobby.
"Hey mom ready for that lunch" I asked
"Yea I am are you" she replied
"Well I need to go update my patients wife but I'll be down in 15 minutes" Mer said
"Ok do you want me to get your food for you" I asked
"Yea you know what to get"
"Yea bye I love you"
"I love you too"
I placed a kiss on her lips and we parted
At lunch
"So how's the baby" my mom asked
"Well the baby kicked today" I replied
"Oh my really" she said excited
"Yea really and we find the sex out next week"
"Well you need to send me pictures" she said before I was paged
"I gotta go Dr Matthews needs my help"
I got up and left.
Mer's POV
"So do you ever feel worried about Dr Matthews" Carolyn asked
"No not at all Spencer is a nice person and she is dating someone from radiology so I'm not worried but also the fact that Derek would never do that to me" I replied
"Well he is just like his father loyal even in a spat"
"I just can't wait to have this baby"
"Well by the looks of your bump it's going to be a big baby just like Derek"
"Do you know what I've never seen baby photos of Derek so what about we join you for Christmas"
"Wow really this will be the first time in so long that I've had Derek for Christmas"
"Well he doesn't know about it but I'll persuade him" I said
"I'm so glad you married my son Meredith" she replied
"Right if I get to call you Mom then you get to call me Mer it's only fair" I laughed
"Ok then"
For the next hour we laughed and talked about Derek's childhood and I realised that I really think of Carolyn as my mom.
