Do the right thing

It's been 2 months since we found out that I had another son and in that 2 month we've organised a meeting and that day is today.
I was getting ready to head to the airport when Lori comes into the living room.
"You ready?" She asked grabbing her keys
"For what?" I laughed fixing my tie
"Meredith asked me to come with you and said to drop you off at the hospital after" she replied opening the door.
"Okay then lets go" I laughed following her.
We got to the airport and I saw Emma standing inside with a little child in a shirt and tie with the cutest little pair of glasses ever.
"Hello there" I said pulling her in for a quick hug
"Hey! Derek this is Charlie, Charlie this is Derek" she said picking him up
"Dewick" he said making me smile
"Hey kido you'll never guess what" I said and his eye looked at me "I'm your Dad" he looked at me for a second then up at Emma then back at me with a huge smile
"Daddy?" He said and I nodded. He jumped over and hugged me.
We sat for a bit and talked then Emma had to leave to catch a flight to London to visit some friends so we said goodbye. On the car ride to the hospital I explained to him that he has a brother and a sister and who Meredith is. Let's just say he was really excited that I was a doctor too and he wanted to get to the hospital as quickly as possible.

When we got to the hospital we came across Bailey.
"Hey Shepherd is this the famous Charles?" She said rubbing his shoulder
"Charlie this is your Aunty Miranda" I said as he smiled and said hello.
"Shepherd you might need to go talk to Meredith she's not doing so well" she said making me slightly worried about what it was. Could it be Charlie? Or me?
I left Charlie with Lori while I went to find Meredith.
I walked about for around half an hour until I saw her staring out the window of the top floor conference room. I saw Alex standing looking in and he's the most worried I've ever seen.
"Derek get in there right now" he said seriously so I headed in
"Mer what's going on?" I asked as she turned around and slumped down on a chair
"I just can't catch a break can I, I just need to get away somewhere that nobody knows me just for a little while" she said sobbing
"Mer what are you saying?" I replied sitting across from me
"I just need to get away for a couple of weeks by myself to relax" she said rolling her chair towards me and placing her hands on my lap
"Meredith what happened" I asked
"It's just the pressure of work I could handle it before but it's all just piling on top of me and I can't control it"
"Meredith I love you, you know that and I want you to be safe and I don't want you to lose your mind...your smart Meredith and you know that. Just do what you feel is right and I will support you no matter what" I said holding her hands
"But Derek what about the kids"
"I don't care I don't want my children to have a mother who isn't in the right frame of mind so you go and you do what you need to do and I'll miss you but I care about you too much to allow you to go on like this" I said wiping the tears from her cheeks
"What did I do to deserve you"
"You grew up to be an amazing woman who puts everyone first" I said standing up and wrapped her in a hug.
We stood there hugging for about 5 minutes before Lori walked in with Charlie.
"Aww is this little Charlie" Meredith smiled walking over and taking him in her arms
"Derek can I have a quick word?" Lori asked as she stepped outside and I followed leaving Mer with Charlie.
"Emma's dead!" Lori said catching my attention...
