It's been 3 days since my mom died and I've been living at my Aunt Paula's house.
"So are you going home today" she asked as we ate breakfast
"Yea I talked to Meredith last night and I promised her I'd come home" I replied
"You know this is exactly what your mother wanted for you a beautiful wife and amazing children and that's what you got"
"I just wanted to make her proud"
"Well she's more than proud of you now you need to back to your wife she'll be hurting as well"
"Yea your right thanks for letting me stay here Aunt Paula I'll see you soon" I said looking at my watch.
I got up and put my jacket on then headed towards the door where I was greeted with a hug.
"Look after yourself please Derek" she said opening the door
"I will" I replied waving back at her before getting into my car and driving off towards home.
