(Callie's POV)
"Alex....Alex I need to talk to you" I said running after him
"What" he snapped back
"Derek is back and he brought his new girlfriend"
"So you want me to do what" he asked
"Warn her because his new girlfriend is supposedly really nice" I replied
"Who said that"
"Bailey" I said as I watched his face go serious
"Ok I'll go"
"That's what I thought"
(MEREDITHS POV)
"Meredith wait up" Alex shouted running after me
"What's up" I replied
"Derek's back and he's got a new girlfriend"
"Ok and"
"Well I was just warning you"
"Ok then I have a surgery tell Derek I said hi"
(DEREKS POV)
15 minutes later in Owens office
"Hey what's going on" I said walking in and kissing her head
"Well Derek meet your new head of neurosurgery" Owen said
"Wait isn't Meredith head of neuro" I asked
"Yea but she has been off her game lately and Dr Matthews has more experience"
"Well if I get in trouble for my girlfriend taking the job off my ex girlfriend while I'm almost chief again it's your fault"
"Ok I'll take the pain but I meaning to ask would you like to start your chief job tomorrow" Owen asked
"Yea sure you want a few days off" I replied
"That's what I was aiming for but we'll get everyone in the front lobby to confirm the change"
IN THE LOBBY (couple of hours later)
"Thank you all for coming on such short notice but there have been two big changes at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital one being I am no longer chief of surgery and I will be handing the job back over to Dr Derek Shepherd at the end of the day. The other big change is that we also have a new chief of neurosurgery Dr a Spencer Matthews is the chief of neuro from New York Presbyterian and will take over from Dr Grey but she will still remain a neurosurgeon in this hospital" Owen said listening to gasps and looking at the shocked faces
"So I will hand you over to your now active chief Dr Shepherd" he said again and noticed a few claps in the crowd
Once I had said what I was going to I went up to my office that Owen had just cleared out and placed my old stuff on my desk.
"WHAT DID YOU DO" Meredith shouted storming into my office
"Hey Meredith long time no see how have you been" I replied
"YOU LEAVE ME TO GO TO NEW YORK AND WHEN YOU COME BACK YOU GRANT YOUR NEW GIRLFRIEND CHIEF OF NEUROSURGERY AND TAKE IT OFF ME WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM!!!" She shouted more
"It wasn't me who made her chief of neuro it was Hunt I'm not even chief yet I'm just getting my office ready so go take it up with him" I said giving her a look so she stormed off to go find Owen
(Meredith's POV)
"CHIEF HUNT!!!" I shouted after him
"Yes Dr Grey" he replied stopping
"Why is it that I come out of surgery to find that Dr Shepherd is back with his girlfriend and that I'm no longer chief of neurosurgery please explain" I asked
"Well Derek was no longer needed in New York so he came back and brought Dr Matthews but Meredith you don't look comfortable as chief your just a better surgical attending your better in the OR than paperwork and also Dr Matthews has more experience"
"I understand that but you could have told me this in advance. Thank you Owen you are right I was drowning in the paper work but I was the only neuro attending all I had to work with was fellows and now there are three of us so it's easier"
" Yes and I have the money to keep all three of you so no need to worry"
"Thank you Dr Hunt"
"Your welcome Dr Grey"
LATER THAT DAY (Derek's POV)
I was standing out in the ambulance bay when Owen joined me.
"Hey Chief" he said shaking my hand
"Hey"
"So what does Spencer think of the hospital"
"She loves it she's made a friendship with Bailey" I replied
"Really out of all people Bailey....really"
"Yea I know"
After a few minutes of talking we were interrupted.
"Hey sweetie ready to go home" Spencer asked taking my arm
"Yea I'll see you tomorrow" I replied shaking Owens hand again
"I think I'm going to like it here" she said
"Yea you will" I replied
We walked hand in hand to the car and went home.

I thought I'd treat you guys because I won't be updating Friday as I am having surgery on my hand so I will not want to write so I have a few ready chapters to go up after Friday until I'm better.
