Foul Play (part 2)

"What do we got" Mark shouted walking into the trauma room
"James Parker he had a seizure which caused him to run into a tree and he's had 3 seizures while we were cutting him out. He also has a deep facial laceration on the cheek exposing the teeth damaging several nerves" the paramedic replied
"Chief what are you doing here" Meredith asked walking in
"I'm one of the Doctors on this case" I replied
"But I was paged"
"Yea I paged you I need a second surgeon on this case" I said
"Ok what's his injury"
"He had a seizure and crashed into a tree then had several seizures after the crash so order a CT"
"Ok Chief Shepherd"
TWO HOURS lATER IN CT
"Chief scans are up" the assistant said getting my attention
"He has a inoperable frontal lobe tumour he has at least a week maybe two to live"
"I'll tell him" Meredith said
"No I'll come with you"
We walked together in complete silence to the patients room and by the time we got there he was just being wheeled in from CT.
"Hey doc how's my head" he said all cheery and I felt horrible because I have to now ruin his day
"Mr Parker when you were in CT we found that you have a frontal lobe tumour" Meredith said
"Mr Parker your tumour is inoperable I'm so sorry" I said
"How long do I have" he asked
"About a week maybe two" Mer replied and we left to give him time with his girlfriend
"Derek can I talk to you for a minute" she asked walking towards the attending's lounge
"Yea sure" I replied following her
"Derek are we ok as in our relationship?"
"I don't know Meredith I was thinking about it as well"
"Well do you think that we work"
"Truthfully Meredith I don't think we work at the moment what do you think?"
"Derek I agree so what about this. We take a break for a few months and see how we feel then and if we feel like we can give it a shot then we will"
"Ok I.....I agree" I said pulling her in for a hug and I watched her leave room. When she left I sat down and put my head in my hands and started to cry a little. I never thought I would react like this because I never reacted like this when me and Addison divorced.
MEREDITH'S POV
When I got out the room I felt a feeling inside of my gut like someone had stabbed me so I did the first thing I thought of....run. I ran passed Callie and she called after me as I heard footsteps running behind me following me into the supply closet.
"Mer what's wrong" she asked sitting next to me on the floor
"Me and Derek broke up" I replied
"Wait what are you ok?"
"I thought I was but I'm not"
"It'll be ok you'll both fight through this I promise"
"I know but I think he might be my soul mate" I said putting my head in my hands and thinking about a future we could have. A big family, a big house, a dog and the main thing that i want in my future is him.
