Maternity leave

I am 6 weeks away from my due date and I'm bored out my skull. Why did I suggest maternity leave I could be cutting into someone's head right now but no I had to go and open my mouth. I was making something to eat when my phone rang. I looked at it and it said Shep❤️❤️ which made me smile instantly.
M-Hey
D-hey your awake
M-I have been for a while
D-well I miss you here
I started to feel my pregnancy hormones bubble up and I started to cry a little
M-awww I miss you too I could really use a Derek hug then jumping into bed in your arms
D-well we can do all that tonight
M-I'm looking forward to it
D-Mer I gotta go trauma coming in I'll see you later
M-bye I love you
D-I love you too bye
We hung up and I went back to making something to eat.
Later that night
I was sitting on the couch watching TV when I heard a car pull up. After a minute the sound of keys then the door opening. As the door opened I saw Derek and immediately stood up and walked over with my head looking at the floor. As I got closer and pulled him in for a hug and buried my head in his chest.
"You didn't miss me this much did you" he asked and I nodded
"8 hours is a long time and that mixed in with pregnancy hormones really isn't nice" I replied
"Well I'm here now and I took the day off tomorrow" he said I automatically looked up at him with a smile on my face
"Really"
"Really so why don't we get in bed and cuddle yea"
"Yea come on"
We went to our room jumped into bed and lay there talking laughing and just having a good time.
"So how are you feeling about not knowing the gender of the baby" he asked
"I'm not too bothered it leaves the imagination open" replied looking up at him
"Well yea but Alex keeps staring at me when there is a conversation about babies and since he knows"
"Derek sweetie we only have 6 weeks to wait can you wait till then" I said smiling at him
"Yea but just for you" he said placing a kiss on my head
"I am going to get something to drink" I said getting up
"No I'll get it what do you want" he asks
"Just water thanks" I said as he walks to go get it
When he gets back he was carrying a glass of water.
"How did I get so lucky" I said taking a sip of water
"I would say the same thing" he said leaning next to me
After looking at him for a while I pulled him in for a really long kiss then placing my head on his chest again.
"I love you" I said
"I love you too" he replied
