Meeting dad

"Derek do you still want to have dinner with my dad?" Mer asks
"Yea it'll be fine both Mark and Lexie will be there too so it'll be fine" I said starting the car and driving off
Thatchers house
To be honest I'm really nervous about meeting her dad. Not because I'm meeting him it's because it's been 22 years since my dad died. 22 years today since he died. I would have told Meredith but she would cancel and this dinner is for the best.
1 hour into the dinner
"So Derek are your parents still alive" Thatcher asked
"My mom is but my dad died when I was 14" I said tearing up a little to the point where I couldn't bare it anymore
"Would you excuse me for a moment" I said getting up and practically running out the door
Marks POV
As I saw Derek run out the door it came to me what was wrong it has been 22 years since his dad died today and this probably isn't helping him. I looked at Mer who was confused about what happened so I ran out after him
"Mark I can't do this anymore" he said
"What?" I replied not understanding
"I've been holding up all day to make Mer happy and just that question brought it all back"
"Dude the fact that you held yourself up all day for her takes a man to do....do you want me to send her out"
"No I'm good I'm just coming in anyway" he said as we both walked inside
Derek's POV
I walked back in and sat next to Mer
"You ok" she whispered
"Yea"
"we have something to tell you all" Meredith said
"Yea" Lexie replied
"We're having a baby" I said taking Meredith's hand. They all congratulated us Lexie being the most excited. I think everything is going to turn out right....:
