Jaejoong's been regaining his consciousness for a while now. The problem is he can't open his eyes or make a sound no matter how hard he tried. It was like his whole body was paralysed but strangely enough, he doesn't feel any pain. He's not even feeling numb like that prickly sensation he always felt whenever he sat for too long and unable to move.

His current condition honestly scared him a little. Especially because he can't seem to remember what happened.

After countless tries, Jaejoong could finally hear himself making a sound. Or at least he thought he did. It sounded like a mixture of a painful whimper and a weak groan.

"Jaejoong?"

It took him a few seconds before he could remember why the voice sounded familiar. Yunhoyah.

"Nurse! Call the doctor! He's awake!"

Doctor? Suddenly nervous and way more terrified than before, Jaejoong forced himself to open his eyes. It was hard but eventually he did it.

And Yunho's relieved expression was what welcomed him.

"...nh..."

"Doctor!"

Jaejoong wanted to tell him to stop the yelling. It's making his head dizzy and hurting his hearing too. But of course, he had no strength to say that yet. All he could do was try to close his eyes and wince.

"Jae? Jae! Open your eyes, Jae! That's good, look at me, just look at me. It's okay, you're okay now. Everything's going to be okay."

"...hngh?"

"Mr Jung, please move aside. I need to examine the patient."

All of a sudden, Yunho's face was replaced with a stranger's.

Jaejoong suddenly felt anxious all over again. A doctor?

"Mr Kim?"

Jaejoong blinked, eyes closed for a while as he's taken by suprise with the sudden light directed to his eyes.

"...sth..."

"Don't force yourself to talk. Alright. Seemed like he's reacting properly and his vitals are improving. Mr Kim, can you hear my voice? If you can, blink once for yes and blink twice for no. Can you do it?"

Despite his confusion, Jaejoong tried his best to blink once.

"Very good. Is your name Kim Jaejoong?"

Jaejoong blinked.

"You are 23 years old?"

Another blink.

"Are you aware you're in a hospital?"

Hesitantly, Jaejoong blinked ever so slowly.

"Do you remember why?"

It was easy for Jaejoong to blink repeatedly. He felt his heart drop when the doctor tore his gaze away and focused on Yunho instead.

"Mr Jung. I think it's best if we discuss his condition outside."

Condition? Everything came back to him in a rush then. The nauseousness, headache and... the fall! My baby! As if a switch was suddenly turned on by that memory, that's when he fully registered the dull aches around his abdomen and inside his stomach. He panicked. The emptiness made him lose his mind; unable to reason and accept why he felt like that. He gasped desperately then; half due to his sudden need of air and half due to his fear. Right at that moment, the machine beside him made a shrill noise.

"Jae!"

Just like that, everything spiralled back into darkness once more.
