Imagine. "So I put everything you need here: diapers, onesie, towel and all the products" explains the nurse. "Don't worry, we did that yesterday together and you did great! Don't be afraid" she adds as she pat yours and Darren's shoulder. "And if you need anything, just call me, okay?" she says. You nod and politely smiled before she goes out of the bathroom and then the room. And here you are, with your husband, and your daughter in the bathroom of your maternity room. Sami was only one day old. How did this happened? Last week, you were a normal woman, pregnant woman of course, and now you're a mom? How weird. You felt very happy and excited, but also very frightened. Sami was lying on the changing table next to the sink.

Darren and you were standing there, in front of her, watching her. "So...we produced an human?" Darren asks. He sounded confused and frowns. "I think so..." you reply with the same tone. "We did great, girl. Look at her, she's like the cutest baby I've ever seen" Darren replies. "I know right? We nailed it!" you exclaim. Darren and you high fived, and kept looking at this tiny human in front of you. She had some hairs already, dark ones, and her eyes was between green and blue, but the nurse told you that could change. Sami was babbling and moving a little. You raised your hand like a student in school. "Yep?" Darren broke the silence. "How did this..." you say as you point at your daughter. "...come out of my body?" you frown. "I have no idea! Rumor has it it actually comes out of a vagina but man I doubt it now" he says. "Ew, gross. That's so big!" you exclaimed. "It will be more realistic if that came out of your belly like on a trap door or something. Like a robot..." he said, thoughtful. "I don't know, you were there. Did you see that?" you ask. "Hey! You were there too, remember?" he says sacarstically. "I don't remember but I guess I was not aware of the situation..." he explains. "Yeah me neither..." you respond. Sami smiled and looked at you and Darren. Her little head turning to you and him.

She was beyond every kind of cuteness.

Darren took her toes in his fingers, like if it was the first time he saw it. "Do you think we could break it?" Darren asks. "Do you think it could explode?" you ask back. "Like Voldemort?" Darren asks with a frown. "Yeah..." you say with a serious tone. Darren and you glanced at each other and said in unison "Weird".

After a few minutes of watching this tiny human in silence again, you finally say "We should bath her before she gets cold". You walk to the sink and turn on the hot water at the temperature the nurse told you. You noticed that Darren was looking at you weirdly, so you ask "What?". He kept looking at you, frowning and then with an astonished face, he answered "You sound like a mom...". You frown as you kept looking at him. A smile grew on your face quickly as you both burst out laughing. You were a mom. A mom, you kept saying to yourself. Darren leaned on the changing table and put his hands close to Sami. "Of course she sounds like a mom, because she's your mommy" he said to her with a silly voice. He carefully kissed her head as she grabbed one of Darren's finger and squeezes it with her little hand. "Aaw, you have no idea how happy you make me, Sam" he told her as he kissed her hands. "Did you hear that Sami? You make Daddy happy" you say with a wide smile. "Daddy..." Darren whispers and grinned too. "Weird isn't it?" you exclaim as you laugh. "Ya!" Darren laughed too. He slowly took Sami in his arms and put her against his chest. "More seriously, I'm really afraid I could hurt her" Darren said, worried. "You won't babe. You're a dad now! Dads don't hurt their children" you wink. "Yeah I guess you're right" he chuckles as he pats Sami's back. "Come on, sweetie. Bath time" he said to Sami, before you both put her in the sink. You glance at Darren, then at Sami. Even if everything was new for the both of you, you knew it would be alright. You chose the right person. You knew it.
