Imagine. Joey woke up after a decent night of sleep. He threw off the sheets and walked to the bathroom, a hand pushing the hair falling all over his face. He yawned in front of the mirror and turned on the water. He cupped his hands under it and splashed it on his face. The cold woke up his mind a little. He went to grab his toothbrush when he stumbled across something unusual. He looked down to see three toothbrushes. Three. His eyes grew big as he gasped. He took it and quickly walked down the hall. "Darren!" he screamed. "Here!" his roommate answered. Joey walked to his room and stood in the open doorframe. Darren was putting away his laundry. "What's up?" he asked. "Do you know what that is?" Joey replied, holding out the toothbrush he just took from the bathroom. "Uhm... that's a toothbrush" Darren chuckled. "Well it's not yours or mine!" Joey cleared. The curly haired guy frowned. "I don't know, it must be y/n's... why are you freaking out?" he was getting worried. "Why am I-" Joey rolled his eyes, "Darren you're so naive. She left her toothbrush here. At your place! Do you have any idea what that means?". Darren stopped to turn to his friend, "Uhm... that she cares about her dental hygiene?". "No! I mean yes, but that's not the point. When someone you're romantically linked with leaves a toothbrush at your place, it's like when someone you have regular sex with wants to spend the night. It's a fucking sign!" Joey said, loudly. Darren chuckled, "Dude, you're saying shit. It's just a toothbrush". Joey walked to him and put his arms over his friend's shoulder to stop him from whatever he was doing. This was a major emergency. "Darren! Think about it!" he said and shook him a little. "What was the last time she slept here?" Joey asked. "Yesterday" Darren shrugged. "And how many times have she done that this week?" he continued. Darren frowned and realized "...Five. That's... almost the whole week actually" he said slowly. Darren's eyes grew wide when he finally realized what it meant. The toothbrush theory. "Oh fuck. She wants us to move in together" he picked up. "Finally!" Joey lifted up his arms, "I knew he wasn't completely stupid". "But we never discussed it!" Darren pleaded. "Bro, you've been dating for three years now! You really are naive" Joey shook his head. "How can I bring this up? I mean, I don't know if that's what I want. I don't know if I'm ready or if it would be good for us, I just-" Darren rambled. "Wow, freak out time. We're talking about the girl we lived with for half a year in Michigan, remember? You have a great relationship. All you have to do is talk about it!" Joey reassured him. He was about to answer but got cut off by his phone ringing. He took it out of his pocket and looked at the screen before shooting a scared look at Joey. "It's her" Darren said. "Hello?" he answered. "Hey babe, you okay?" you said on the other line. "Uhm... yeah. I'm-I'm awesome" he answered weirdly. "Sure?" you replied. His tone was worrying you. "Yeah, yeah" he reassured you. "Uhm okay. Anyway, I thought about testing that new place in Hollywood for lunch. Wanna be my date? I really missed you yesterday" you explained. Darren swallowed his fear. "Sure, yeah, awesome, sounds great" he answered. Joey frowned and mouthed to him 'What the fuck are you doing?'. Darren mouthed back 'I don't know!'. You chuckled nervously on the other end. He was being weird today, you thought. "Well see you there then! I gotta go. Love you!" you said. "Love you too honey. See ya" he replied with a slight smile. He was stupid for even freaking out in the first place. You were everything to him. He hung up and looked at Joey with optimistic eyes. "We'll talk at lunch".
