Imagine. "All the colors that we know lives up in the rainbow! Red and orange, green and blue, shiny yellow and purple too!" sang the activity table. "Yeah! 'gain!" Kyle exclaims before pushing the button again. "Urgh. If I heard this song one more time, I'm gonna go crazy" you sighed. You and your husband were cuddling under a blanket on the couch while you watch your 2 year old son play with his toys. "What you do mean? That's my jam! One more time buddy!" Darren cheerfully said. "I hate you" you chuckle as he gave you a smirk. "Why our kid does not sleep?" you ask. "Because he's not tired?" your husband proposed. "But he's never tired!" you exclaim dramatically.

Ok it was a school day, so you had to get up for Sami, but yet, you were not supposed to get up before the clock rang in your ear. "Kyle, why don't we go night-night?" you asked him. "Red!" the little boy exclaimed as he showed off one of his cubes before handing it to his father. "That is red. Thank you buddy" your husband said as he gladly accept the toy and put it next to him on the couch. "I think that meant 'Fu- off mom'" Darren chuckled. "Yeah it does! I don't feel respected at all" you joke with a sad face. "Pink!" Kyle exclaims again and once more gives the cube to his father. "Yeah that's great baby!" you said as joyful as you could with your fatigue. Kyle kept playing that song that would probably end up in your head for the rest of the day, week or worst, life, with his toys.

"It's time to wake up Sam for school" you said as sat up straighter on the couch. "I'll go get her" Darren said and kissed your forehead. He got up and disappeared down the hallway. Kyle joined you on the couch and stacked his cubes. "How many cubes do you have?" you asked away as you put your legs up to your chest. "1, 2, 3, 8..." he counted and pointed at each one. You giggled silently. Listening to him count was the cutest thing ever. "12!" he said and threw his tiny arms in the air. "Yaay" you clapped. There were actually only 6 of them. But it was funny. "Looks like someone is gonna stay with us today" you heard behind you. Darren was carrying Sami in his arms. She had her head buried in his neck and seemed exhausted. "What's going on?" you asked with a pout. "I would bet the flu" Darren said and took a look at his daughter. "She's very warm" he announced as he put a hand on her forehead. "Aw poor baby" you said. "Do you want to have some breakfast?" Darren proposed her. "No" she answered sleepily. "Do you want Grandma's tea?" he asked this time. "Yeah" she responded. "I'll make you one" he said as he put her on her feet. "Mommy..." she said weakly. "I'm here sweetie" you said. "My head hurts" she said before coughing loudly. "Aw, come here" she straddled your lap and you put the blanket over her. "It's okay. I promise you'll feel better soon" you respond.

You put a kiss on her forehead and sway slightly as her head was on your chest. You heard some noises coming from the kitchen and you hope Darren doesn't break the tea bag this time. "All the colors that we know live up in the rainbow!" "No, no, no. Kyle. We need to stop the song for now, okay" you say as you turn off the sound of the board, still holding your daughter in your arms. Kyle turned to you with a sad face and started to pout. "Baby, it's okay. We will put it back on later" you say. That didn't seem to work. Your son was on the verge of tears. "Oh look! A yellow cube!" you tried to distract him. He rubbed his eyes and grinned at the sight before happily returning to play with the cubes. A splitting image of his father. "He's funny" you heard your daughter say. You grinned. "Ok, we're good!" Darren said from the kitchen before joining the family. Sami sat up on your lap and took the cup her father handed to her. "It smells weird" she crunched her face over the cup. "It's a magic tea. You know how Grandma has all her magic tricks" you smile and brush the curls off her forehead.

She took a sip and made a weird face at the taste. "Yeah, I know" Darren nodded, "But it works!". "Is this why Daddy never cooks?" the little girl asked seriously. You both burst out laughing. "I wasn't expecting that" Darren said as he held his belly. "I guess that could be one of the reasons" you grinned. Not without difficulty, Sami eventually finish the whole cup and ended up sleeping on you. "I hate to see them sick" Darren pouted, "I wish they could be all smiley happy all the time". "Ya, me too" you smile slightly. You both heard a yawn and turned to Kyle. "Oh my god. He's tired!" you whispered loudly. You couldn't help but to do a little victory dance with your husband. "Come on, let's go sleep for real now" he proposed as he took your son's hand. You stood up and followed them along the corridor. You just couldn't wait to get your head back on to that damn pillow.
