Imagine. "If he wakes up in less than 3 hours, I will consider myself a total mess" Darren admits. He just struggled to make Kyle sleep. The little boy had trouble sleeping and staying in his bed for a few days, which, of course, exhausted the 3 year old, your husband and you. "I will bet in 2 hours and he will run into the living room" you say. Darren layed on top of you on the couch and put his head on your chest. "I'm so tired" Darren groans. "It will get better babe" you say and put your fingers through his curls. "And Sam? She didn't talk much about school today" Darren asked with a worried voice. "I think she goes through her 'I don't wanna go to school anymore' phase. She made up an excuse not to go to school every single morning this week" you explain. "Did it work?" Darren raised his head to look at you. "No, she's a terrible liar" you chuckle. Darren grinned and put his head back down. "I guess the 'Yay-we-are-going-to-school' time is over" he adds. "Yep" you manage to say with a yawn. "Let's just sleep while we have the opportunity to" Darren said sleepily before closing his eyes. He took one of your hands and intertwined his fingers with yours. You closed your eyes with a smile on your face. Unfortunately, your picture perfect sleep did not last more than five minutes before someone shook your shoulder.
"Mommy! Daddy! Wake up" a girly voice said. You opened your eyes to see your daughter. "Sami, you should be in bed and asleep for a long time already" Darren said as he sits on the couch. He helped you sit up. You rubbed your eyes and your forehead. Have you kids been involded in a secret mission to keep you from sleeping? "I couldn't sleep. I was thinking too much" Sami states and sat on the coffee table. "I have something to tell you" she adds, extremely serious. You and Darren looked at each other for a second before looking back at her. That almost scared you. "I thought a lot about that" Sami repeated and put her hands energically on her lap. "I think I would just cancel school tomorrow" she explained just as serious.
You giggled before you could control it. Darren bit his lip not to laugh and you put your hand over your mouth to try to stop it. That failed. Darren looked down to push away the smirk his lips were urging and your daughter looked at you both, almost hurt you laughed at her. You hide under the blanket so she wouldn't notice your silent laugh anymore. You heard Darren saying "Princess, we can't cancel school. That's not an option". You could tell he was trying to stay as serious as he could. "Why? I don't like it anymore. It's not fun anymore" Sami explained. "I think Mommy will answer this one" Darren said playfully. You put away the blanket and shot your 'hate you' glance to your husband, who was once more trying not to smile. "Uhm..." you chuckle. "You have to go to school, whether it's fun or not. Daddy went to school, I did, and like Daddy said, it's not option. You have to go. It's important for you to learn as much as you can for your future" you explain. Darren nodded and Sami sighed. "Okay..." she said with a bit of disappointment. She kissed you both goodnight before going back to her room.
Darren and you glanced at each other again before you both burst out laughing. "Those kids will kill me one day" you admit. "Oh man, that was awesome" Darren said between giggles. After a few minutes of laughs, you and your lover went back to your room for a 2 hours sleep before your son wakes up again. You won the bet.
