Another Little Joy

Imagine. Darren and you had a code. Ever since you tried to pregnant with Kyle, you both decided that whenever you two did tried to get pregnant, you wouldn't make a big deal of it. No having sex as an obligation so you could get pregnant. No depressing thoughts and all that goes with it. Just patience. And as Darren always said "If it's meant to be, it will happen". You always discussed having more kids; surrounding yourself with even more love to give and take. But you kept things casual and happy. So when you found out you were finally pregnant, you were happy not to have to try anymore. Your grin couldn't get any bigger. Your phone rang and it was Darren. You tried to calm down before answering. You couldn't tell him something like that over the phone. "Hey babe!" you said joyfully. "Hi honey. How are you?" he asked. "I'm awesome" you bit your lip. "Good. I think we're gonna finish early today, so I'll be home before the kids go to bed" he explained. "That's great" you grinned. "Yeah! I can't wait to spend a real evening with you three. Ok, I gotta go. Love you" he rushed. "Love you too. See you tonight" you succeeded to say before he hung up. You needed to find a special way to tell him. You went in his office and started to shuffle around. Maybe you could tell him with something he likes. You walked past the piano and your eyes fell on the guitars. You thought for a second and finally got the idea. You grinned like a four year old in a candy shop. This was going to be amazing. "Another story Daddy!" Kyle jumped on your bed. You were all gathered on your queen size bed. "It's bed time little man. We'll read another story tomorrow" Darren explained. Sami was cuddling on your side and looked on her way to a long night of sleep. Kyle pouted but quickly gave up as a yawn cut off whatever he was going to say next. You took Sami in your arms, put her to bed and kissed her goodnight before switching places with Darren so you could kiss your son goodnight and he could do the same thing with Sami.

You both slowly closed the doors of their rooms as you met up, facing each other in the corridor. "Hey" he said and smirked. "Hi" you whisper. You grinned and kissed him. The happiness you could read on his face always bring a smile on your face, and you couldn't wait to see it get bigger. "I got a surprise for you" you said against his lips. "Really?" he said and pecked your lips. You nodded. You took his hands and intertwined your fingers with him to drag him back in the living room. He sat on the couch and you went to take the little bag you got at the music store this afternoon. "Wow, what's that for?" Darren smiled, noticing the name on the bag. You simply shrugged. He opened it to find a box. "How mysterious" he said. You giggled. He opened the box to find a guitar pick. He now grinned. "Aw thank you honey. It's amazing. I love it" he said and kissed your cheek. "You should see the other side" you advertised him. He turned it around and frowned. "Dad to 3?" he seemed confused. He turned his face to you. "But we only got two k..." he frowned and gasped as he realized. "We're gonna have another baby??" he shouted in the house. "Ssh" you quiet him down but you couldn't help your grin and giggles. "Shut up, you're joking. You're really pregnant?" he grinned. "Yeah, I'm definitely and positively pregnant" you grinned back. "Oh my god" he took you in his arms. You closed your eyes a second to just feel how happy you were at the moment. He pulled back and kept looking at the pick. "I can't believe it" he shook his head and laughed. "Is this really happening?" he asked. "Yeah" you once again confirmed and felt tears of joy crawling in your eyes. "One more kid to run around, huh?" he looked right through you. "Gotta get ready for that" you giggled. "Man, I love you so much" he said and put a hand on your neck to kiss you passionately. As your life as a family of 5 had just started, you felt like you couldn't get any happier.
