Imagine. "Have a good night!" you say with your best smile as you open the door for the last person in the bar. Your hands were full of Darren's EP's, but it doesn't mean you can't be polite. One of the waitress started to clean the bar up as Darren came to you. He looked at your full hands and sighed. "We didn't sell any, right?" he asked. "Someone bought one" you say as you took 5 dollars from your pocket to show him. "Awesome" Darren said sacarstically and rolled his eyes. "It's better than nothing" you try to reassure him. "I put so much hard work into that thing! Did you see how awful it was tonight? Or the night before that? Or for months? Nobody's cares! Nobody fucking cares about my music, none of them even pay attention for more than 30 seconds" he explains. You could see that was making him upset. He leans on the bar counter and looked down. You pout and put the cds on the counter before standing in front of him. "I did listen" you said. Darren chuckled ironically and rolled his eyes again. "Of course you would, you're my girlfriend! If you stopped listening, I'd be screwed" he says to his feet. You smirk at his cute comment, but before you could respond he said, "Maybe I should give up. Maybe I should just, I don't know, forget music. Make it a hobby instead and focus on acting". "No. No way. I won't let you do that" you shake your head. "How many eps did I sell huh? If I did sell like 20, it would be a miracle! Plus I'm pretty sure my mom would have bought like 15 of them" he fake laughed. You looked at him. It made you so sad to see him like that. He couldn't give up. You won't let that happen.

"Maybe you're right. I was probably the only one listening to your songs tonight, and maybe I was the night before, and even the night before that" you say. You took his hands, and he looked up at you. "But I know that one day, I will not be the only one anymore. I know that you could count on your fingers the people who wouldn't listen to you at one of your gigs or concert soon. Babe you didn't sit for four years in university to give up one year after. That's what makes you happy, Darren. You don't think that I notice, that we all notice, how bright your smile is when you hold a guitar or when you're on stage?" you add. Darren pinched his lips and looked at you right in the eyes, absorbing every one of your words. "You're not gonna give up. You're gonna come up on that stage tomorrow, and for the next 100 days if you need too, and you're gonna kick some ass. And you'll see, one day we'll laugh about the time I used to sell your EP at bar door for 5 dollars" you joke. Darren chuckled and tilted his head, his eyes full of love and tears. "It's hard you know...". His head falls forward to look at the floor again, as your hands were still bouncing between you two. "I know. I know that well. Just as much as I know that one day, you'll go on a stage where people will sing along with you. Life's not supposed to be easy, Darren. But I'm 100% sure that if you give up now, you're gonna ask yourself for the rest of your life 'what if?'. Don't let that happen" you say as you let go one of his hand to caress his cheek. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"Plus, I really want to hear you congratulates me when you win your Grammy" you say amusingly. Your boyfriend giggled and took into his arms. "Thank you darling. I promise I will, but before that I have to schedule tomorrow's gig" he answers. You smile and put your head on his shoulder, your arms thrown around his neck. "You know, I will always be there to kick your ass whenever you want to give up" you whisper against his ear. "You're too good for that, okay?" you add. "Okay. Thanks for being the one who listene when no one else does" he responds as he slides his hands up and down your back. "Always" you add as you close your eyes. He smiled and hugged you tighter before repeating, "Always".
